There you are, afraid of the extinction of biological gems like tigers, snow leopards or gorillas ... With the humble measure of grasp that you have, realizing what an unspeakable loss it will mean to this planet; evolutionary, ecologically, aesthetically and in respect of humanity. - To your offspring and again theirs until end. And all the time aware of what a tiny bit of all the abundant prey money it would be taking that is circling around the world now, and even in daily growing dimensions. To take immediate measures to merely stop the poaching and deforesting / occupation of land would cost a money that the oligarchs wouldn´t even notice as missing in their global creaming off. Amounts not even existent in their perception. Each and every single of the over 1200 billionaires could put an end to the most urgent species threats easily, with no whatsoever incisions to their material life. Instead however you get to read what all the time? About their acquisition of some clumsy crap "art" for plain cynical sums. Or worse even right now, Steve Ballmer´s purchasing of a god darn **** BASKETBALL CLUB for USD TWO BILLION. Imagine the day when you be explaing to your kids or grand kids. You being asked like: "Why did the people let these animals die out?" Replying like: "Because it was preferred to either spend on artwork that you could be doing so much better than that or to make private pastime of sports clubs for sick amounts." Where have we come to, when not in a position anymore to distinguish between the uselessness of some frigging sports club and the unique phenomenon and beauty like with higher developed species? Has an numbskull sultan like Ballmer never seen a tiger live to get it? Do guys like that really only engage intellectually with secondary objects? - I want to smash my head against the wall when only thinking of what could be done with 2 billion dollars! - Mr. Ballmer: The people who may admire you for your newest transaction will exclusively have cognition hardly worth 2 miserable US dollars. If that is what you are being surrounded with, then you must be withering. Find yourself some grounded heads and souls. You owe it to the earth. Ruphus

Agreed; and Rui´s suggestion is only in accordance with the PC tantra. Of the same value like the capitalist suggestion to privatize states estate for sake of higher efficiency, or let the market regulate market conditions, which proved contra productive for a reason. What counts is common sense and to work on that in any way appears like a useful way to me. In fact, if you deal with fellow being / environment, making one´s subject of matters is what happens involuntarily anyway. Often times actually I sure could do without if only it wouldn´t blow my head. - Just today I was stopped by a police car for walking a dog. In a country completely upside-down, bursting of all kinds of injust and major offence, while these guys keep bothering folks for dress codes etc. Luckily the dog, feeling the archaic threat, pulled his head out of the collar and ran, so that I was prevented from finishing what my blowing head was about to release. You don´t plan these things they just burn their way out through your soul. More often than not turning out against your personal interest, yet you can´t but name unbearable discrepancy. If discrepancy remains unmentioned it will stay. Ruphus

Ya Stephen San, you really managed to cheer me up. hehe Crazy guy! ;O) We got through the last poison attack alright, and Susie ( the one most effected this time) appearing kind of like Parkinson with the neural damage, seems to almost fully recover until now ( which I would had not thought ... Just like the vet did not think her to survive to begin with ). She seems to have understood that she has been rescued, now being even more affectionate to me than before. In the midst of all that It became clear that a mean infection of their paws has set in ( Doc saying it could easily led to amputations). Another procedure involving heaps of antibiotics, desinfecting and applying diverse ointments twice daily to all of them. But at last, after 2 months now reconvalescence is obvious. Yet, there is left something that makes the males balls skin tear and them licking themselves all over obsessively. With Hermann´s case almost ceased now, but Charly still far from being back to normal. I suspect mites or fungus. Mites are known to flourish with dry climate, but the all present fungi here can only come enforced from unhygienical / careless customs. Anyway, needless to say, the health conditions for animals here are driving me nuts. - I´ll keep that in mind about vilone players. No sex with Anne-Sophie Mutter! ;O| quote:
ORIGINAL: Stephen San Ayn Rand was wrong. All wrong about capitalism, and she accepted welfare when she did not make enough bank selling her terrible raspingly written books. I am certain that you are being aware of such being only superficially / moralistically contradictive. Marx was receiving donations from Engels too. Would that lessen anything on the conclusiveness of his analysis? Nyiet a bit. - Not long after Deng Siao Ping´s new direction, Der Spiegel reported on the traditional "master race" doctrine of the Chinese ( which at that time no Joe like me would had guessed ). Something laying dormant / apparently reviving with the economical uphill and which together with a traditionally desastrous attitude towards environment ( despite of currently them taking the largest measures of environmentally friendly introductions) might be occuring to a prospective rest of the world. quote:
ORIGINAL: Rui Martins You're going to die. We all are. Human intelligence doesn't mean that it is used for the best, our obvious auto destructive patterns prove that. What's new? Rui, you can´t be serious with this kind of nonchalant truisms. So, is there no relativity left over? No difference between con- and destruction, between peace or war, between the fact of fox-eating chicken and its example to the contrary? Will the fact of an ending life ( which besides even must not be inevitable in terms of relativity either, while science is about to remove the self-destructive mechanisms in the metochondria ) render everything equal? If the given circumstances were to be inevitable, do you think guys like me would be growing grey hair over it? The point is the absolute NEEDLESS being of the happening destruction. And on top of that the misproportion when an evolution of billions of struggling years gets ended by a NEEDLESSLY devastating species that occured yet in the last nano second of the evolutionary track. On the way to Laotse´s cute little analogies of tao you might not want to forget the phenomenon of differenciation and relativity. It keeps mattering. And at times, as ordinary as it may be appearing on first sight, it even presents the core of a matter. What is not new? Cultures that preserved their environment. They have occured / are possible. Awareness and appreciation are possible. And as guys like me claim: Self-evidently so, for what is supposed to be thinking species. Ruphus
