Flamenco in Granada and elsewhere
For those in Granada there is a concert of Los Farruco on the 10 december at Palacio Congressos. Not my favourite venue but its big enough for the audience they should get. Unfortunately Farruquito will not be performing as he has vowed not to perform in Spain, however he is in Paris on the 6 december.
A new site has started up to give info on all the flamenco shows that are touring

Kate whatever happened to his case ? did he do any time ? will he ? comunity service ?
What is the general feeling between the flamencos you hang out with about what happened with him whats they view on it ?
from what i understand pple in Spain outside flamenco in general were pissed off cause he got off so light because hes famous.
I understand there was a large fine, but he did not do time. It was particularly delicate as the others in the car at the time were police, though I could be listening to too many rumours, apparantly they advised him to drive off. People here have so many differing opinions, which changed over time as well, couldn't say what the general feeling is now. I am sad he will not perform here again. Fame is a strange animal, not sure it did him any favours. Perhaps if he had not been famous he would not have had the opportunity to drive around in a fast car without a license. Perhaps he would have stopped if he had not been famous. Who knows ?

You got it , for goodness sake i just went off to cook calamares for the workers I cant spend all day checking into the forum , I got men who need to eat !!!!
Actually I sometimes feel very out the loop when I join in people's conversations the next day.
Hey Florian, off topic, but do you know who Gary Glitter is ? My brother in Vietnam just found him, should be in the UK Daily Mail tomorrow. Now there's someone I'd like to see in the dock !

I am sorry for him too but on the other hand, he killed someone accidentaly (out of his own stupidity ) one moment of stupidity u pay for the rest of your life for it. The fact that he drove of and tried to make his brother take rensposibility for it , if my version of the story is correct amazed me.

Yes, i have heard of him , what was he lost or something ? I am not sure how you loose a guy who weares gliter from top to bottom :-)
I did find this about him in google
quote:
Where are they now? He was arrested on child pornography charges in England in 1997, after a computer technician fixing his computer found indecent images of young children on his hard drive.
In April, 2002 he was discovered renting an apartment in Cambodia, in the capital city of Phnom, and may be deported for no particular reason
Looking for it i found this great website of ," Where are they now ?"

All the gitanos I know drive without licence or papers: why I do not know.
The police were not in the car with Farruquito: he called then later but their phone was tapped because they were under suspicion of drug dealing.
The reason he got off so lightly was than the phone tapping evidence was ruled inadmissible: a technicality.
The family, without Farruquito, danced as invited guests in Cadiz in August for the final of the Concurso de Baile por Alegrías. They were sensational. In the fin de fiesta the audience began to play bulerias palmas and chant "Farruquito, Farruquito".
Finally he came out wearing street shoes and in 10 seconds wiped everyone else off the stage.
Good, bad??? No lo sé. Florian has the facts more or less correct but??? La vida es un coñazo.

Somebody told me this sick joke... Gary Glitter is in the pub with his band having a few... One of them gets up and says "OK..my round...What's everybody having?" Gary looks at his watch and say's "Getting too late for me mate...gotta get back to read my new girlfriend her bedtime story..."
The guy who told me it plays in a local Rock band, hence the sick sense of humour! LOL!

Hi Sean
One of my friends, a young Gitano who just worked and saved so hard to pay to get his driving license was, quite rightly, furious at Farruiquito's response that they all do this.
I wish I had see him dance in Cadiz. I had tickets for him at the Jerez festival before this all happened but at the last minute could not go. Forgot parents were coming ! Duh !
