Vigier

Hola

Last night I had a chance to play an incredible Vigier bass. It has no truss rod, just a mastil with a heart of carbon fibre, set up with the appropriate relief, muy pegada, never needs adjustment and sounds great.

The owner, who is a top flight profesional and former student of Alfonso Gamazza, is enamorado of a guitar which never needs adjustment, even when changing from high to low temperatures or high to low humidity. He has a pre CBS Jazz Bass which has been retired in spite of its great sound, because it constantly needed adjustment.

Really, it is pure Leo Fender with modern technology. Leo was a real visionary

Patrice Vigier makes great guitars. The Exacliburs and Shawn Lane signature model play lightning fast and smooth. The Shawn Lane is especially ridiculous on how easy it plays.

I've always lusted over their fretless Surfretter model... got to try one once in Singapore... amazing guitar! I'll get one one day, when I gather the courage to learn how to play without frets!

If you like Vigier guitars, you should also check Lag Guitars... they are also a French brand, and they are really really cool... more orientated towards the Metal crowd though.

Seen it! I love Guthrie, amazing player... have you had a chance to listen to his Erotic Cakes album? You should check it out if you haven't, confirms that Guthrie is a monster amongst the monsters of electric guitar!

Here's the first track, enjoy!!
