How does he do that?!

I mean this one: http://rapidshare.de/files/7198508/Paco_effect.mp3.html

Its from the DVD "Meeting the spirits" - a not so good concert by Coryell,McLaucghlin and Paco.
This is - of course - a part of Pacos section...

I think or im quite sure that is a mix of pull offs and hammer ons, but i have no idea how he does it ...

PS: he makes no barre while doing this!!!

paco has a few "open string licks" that he uses a lot.
usualy in the fifth or seventh position but since it´s just morning over here i havent check the DVD yet. Im gona do it during breakfast.

paco has some of these licks in "cuando canta el gallo" , "montiño" "monasterio del sal"
"Zyriab" i guess and some granaina of the teatro real i think.
When pdl plays "spain with john MClaughlin its all over the place.

Now i have made a powertab.
This is NOT! what paco plays in your exampel but it´s the open string idea.
I made 3 examples. short ones to get thet basic idea.

Yes, I think its correct.

Hm its funny to see that the solution is almost "simple"...

can you imagine how fascinated and helpless i was to explain that?

But how do YOU know that?!
Have you heard it out, or did you know it before?

open string licks are pretty old stuff, in any style of music.
How did i know paco did it. well. tabs i´ve seen. tabs i´ve learnt and videos of him playing. In other words. experience.
Likcs with open strings are also very easy to hear. They never sound like "normal" stuff.

Dude, can you give some examples of pieces which contain open string legatos?

And maybe also some examples that are easy to hear and learn?
