My Band

I know that this isn't flamenco, it's kind of alternative but with a tiny-bit flamenco-influence harmonic-wise (maybe you hear it in the song )
I just wanted to share the other side of my musical-interest
and I'm quite interested in your thoughts!

greetings

fun. The drum sounds very good, pro sound. Guitars are simple parts but sound good too. The keyboard is ok. The vocals...that is a big problem. I know it is a sensitive issue for most bands, especially if he is the leader and song writer. But he is no singer sorry. He has two choices, 1. work very hard on on singing in tune. If he had been singing very nice in tune then I would only recommend 2. Find a better key for the voice. Its way too low for his voice to project any type of emotion. I know stylistically you are not looking for Maiden type vocals of course, but still he can actually try singing some notes and open up the voice and the entire song will come alive. As it stands, the vocals are a monotone droning slightly off tune sound, and lyrics unintelligible. I heard the word "stranger" that's it, thanks to the title.

If neither of those things are possible I would recommend getting a female vocalist for example same tune sung an octave higher and it will grab me.

I actually kind of disagree about the vocals. He has a distinctive voice, somewhat Bowie-esque and with some vocal charisma. He's probably the writer and the leader anyway, so in reality he's not going anywhere. The mix is not helping his voice come out at all, the harmony instruments are getting in his way. If he's not going to actually learn how to use his mixed voice and head voice, he should at least put together a Radiohead/Bowie type falsetto that can be used for intense moments. That's the nice thing about popular music, you can do whatever you want! He should seriously work on his intonation, and perhaps consider an autotune unit until he has that down.

It's pretty well accepted in pop nowadays. I have also heard of bands using click tracks to simulate rhythmic sense. Sure, I'd rather he learn how to sing, but wouldn't you rather the audience be spared "the horror" at any cost?

in a lot of bands the main songwriter isn't the singer..Martin Gore of Depeche Mode comes to mind

Yes, but why would they let that guy sing unless he was the songwriter?

I went through a Depeche Mode phase when I was in high school. It's perfect music for wallowing in adolescent despair! I still like it if I hear it on the radio.
