RE: Conde's, Conde's and more Conde's (in reply to Ricardo)
Is that true or is that little green face meant to be sarcastic
I honestly don't know, because I've never seen a Conde or a Reyes or anything like that. I've only seen a few concert classicals from Spain, but never a flamenco guitar on that leve

Can you tell us what was the difference?

Agreed imo no difference in sound between a (thin) lacquered or French Polished instrument.
I once saw a test with a precision acoustic detection instrument on two identical spruce tablets .......well.....there was a difference! :-) ciao giambattista

Once, in the taller de mi amigo Rafael, we were asked by Antonio Jero to strip the varnish from the tapa of one of his guitars and refinish it. It was a real coñazo de trabajo with Nitromors and scrapers, because the finish was thick.
When the tapa was refinished with goma laca, the sound improved noticably.

A strange way to build: if Mariano can put a tapa on that one he is a genius
come on guys that was a 1926 domingo esteso he was showing without the top.
I am not saying these guys are not contracting out, but it's been years now folks saying they "pretend" to build a guitar and dont' build any. It is a big insult if it's not true. Anybody have even a shred of proof of a valencia build guitar with Mariano or Felipe Conde sticker? Thought for sure with all the hate the lid would have been blown off by now. It's not CIA operation for god sakes. Names and addresses would be nice...who builds condes?

I remember being in the Sanchez taller in Valencia and, wandering around, came on a rack of 40 or 50 mastiles, all with media luna.

You mean Sanchis as in Ricardo Sanchis Carpio? I already had proof of them building guitars for ATOCHA which also use media luna. They stamp their address on the top, and on back you have conde labels signed by widow (I assume).
TOTALLY DIFFERENT SITUATION the implication of mariano and felipe...price difference too...which should be the MAIN ISSUE. We need the definative proof which address was the destination for any of em. They end up not looking the same in some details as well. We need the smoking gun.

I will try with a few words : it was my first project of a small theater ( 250 seats) and I was ( with other colleagues, in particular sound engeneers - I am an architect) studying the behaviour of the internal materials. it was in 1989! I remember that the wood surface of the spruce tablet ( mm 220x220x4) with french polish reacted to sound absorbtion and sound reflection/diffusion with values closer to the naked wood (same tablet- wood and size). thats all I remember because in the following years I have never managed again problems connected with the interiors of a theater.
