Not another strings thread

Iam using Savarez red card basses (HT) on my new guitar and althought the guitar feels super easy to play, the basses feel a bit like buttery rubberbands.

I had never used these basses before so I would like to know if they are supposed to feel like this when compared to the strings Ive been using, La Bella elite flamenco (820?).

My friend uses red cards and they feel "floppy" to me. I use D'Adario hard and extra hard normally.

Ah... thanks.

I bought a set half a year go just to use the trebles and now the basses went to this new guitar... no more savarez red card for me, thanks

Savarez red card HT are not high tension compaired to other strings, they're pretty normal; only difference is that they don't intonate

Intonation depends on some other factors besides the string itself but the tactile feel of these is terrible and there's nothing I can do about it.

Red card? That means you're out of the game, and you don't want that now do you? I'd rather you stick with a yellow card, or perhaps a green card so you can come to the USA and buy Yamaha flamenco guitars for less money than what they go for in Europe.

I'd be shocked if you found a set of red cards where the A and D were any good.

Oh, not again...

I guess I'll never buy anything else from Yamaha. Glad Ive sold the amp last week, wouldnt be able to stare at it right now

edit: FYI, the Alhambra is doing pretty good.

I dont want to start another thread just to ask this so...

I was looking at my guitar from an angle and Ive noticed that I can see the fan braces from the top of the guitar.. It looks as if the fans are pulling the top on those spots...

Is this normal?

Imprinting is not uncommon.
Thin tops, humidity changes, too much clamping pressure when gluing the fan braces down, and type of glue used are some reasons for it.
Just make sure your guitar hasn't gotten dry, and you are properly humidifying it.

That is usually a sign that the guitar needs to be humidified or else a crack may happen. If humidity is at least 40% where you are then it is likely something else that is less common cause. Something to try is soaking a sponge, ringing out the excess water thoroughly and placing it inside the body of the guitar and leaving it like that in the case for a night or two. I've seen "thirsty" guitars "drink" every last drop of water out of a sponge in a night or two while totally fixing any concaving in the top. Just make sure to ring out the sponge well and there is no danger of damaging your guitar.

The guitar came from a place where the relative humidity is the same as here, about 70%.

Then as was previously stated its something that happened during the glueing and clamping process. Try asking in the litherie section what the causes and hazards may be. I would say if you're in Portugal then it likely won't be a problem but just take a humidifier with you if you travel with it. It may be slightly more at risk of cracking but ask lutherie to be sure.
