Ramirez 72 blanca w soundboard crack
Hello,
As you may recall, I was looking for a ramirez blanca and came across one locally. It has a few cracks that were repaired. One near the bass strings that extends to the bridge makes me a bit nervous, it was glued, no cleats. Should I pass on it? or take it?

Play it man - play it. How it sounds is the main criterion.
You would be surprised at how little a crack affects the sound - sometimes. A better description of the condition would allow the Foro luthiers to give you an opinion.
Also - what is the price? Obviously this is no small factor.

I assume it sounds great But I wouldn't pay more than 3000€ (~3900$) for a Ramírez with soundboard damages. I don't know how the prices are for Ramírez in your country, though.

The seller is asking 3200USD. Sounds great, as it should. I don't mind the cosmetic flaw, just don't want it to give me problems in the future. I have read that cracks under the bridge KILL a guitar. Is this true?

As an additional point of reference on the market in the U.S. FWIW, a nice 81 1A sold for $3350 and a 72 1A sold for $2500 recently on Ebay. A very nice 1A Negra was unsold at $4300. It has been relisted at 4100, I believe.

It looks a lot like a Ramirez I bought direct. Same rosette but if I remember mine was a little earlier. I used to refer to it as my GSO (guitar shaped object). I sold it in the 80's for $350 which was more than it was worth. I used the money from it to buy blanca from Francisco Fernandez which was better but not much.

The answered i got from luthiers is that if the crack runs under the bridge, it might be harder to fix. I use to have a problem with buying a cracked guitar; but I don't see a problem with it now, after buying a cracked guitar which sounds awesome.. BUT with any cracked guitars, always ask for a discount. also check for any other problems to be fixed like a moved/bowed neck
