Francisco Barba's Estudio model

Does anyone here know about

Francisco Barba's Estudio model like this one just sold on ebay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Francisco-Barba-Flamenco-guitar-/190735386467?item=190735386467&ViewItem=&nma=true&si=bYZ33AVDFSP6lFthXEQSWebrCZQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I don't suppose he has a lot to do with them, they have a different headstocks, they don't seem that common although one was sold here recently.

Do they get made in Valencia or China then sold in his shop.

Anyone know anything ?

Cheers

I'm fairly sure this is a Sanchis with a different label. Sanchis seem to make guitars for a few others who then put their own labels in. Not sure what grade this one would be, Sanchis 1f or 2f.

Thanks Orsonw

That makes a bit of sense as Sanchis make nice guitars maybe they have more capacity.
I couldn't understand why it would be worthwhile for a great luthier to get someone to
make a guitar that is maybe not so good. But I can also see that it may be frustrating if people
visit your shop and tou have to tell them to wait for years.

Strange that there are not many of them about though.

Thanks again

Yes, I had one. 2000 Barba Estudio, made by Sanchis-most likely a 2F-.

Yep - I bought a negra estudio model last year from their workshop, still have it.

I was after a blanca, and went to a few luthiers in Seville, didn't find one that 'fitted' me, and Barba was my last stop.

His blanca estudios were, to my ears, better than I found elsewhere, but I still wasn't 100% sold.

Then I asked if they had anything else, and he brought out the negra studio model, and I nearly fell of the chair - amazing sound.

They said it was a factory guitar, hand finished . I didn't delve much deeper as to exactly where it was made (as if they would admit it ..), as the most important thing for me was the sound, and how it felt to play.

If it was made in a metal-topped shack by a bunch of robots in the guang dong province in china, then good job, fellas!

I paid 1400 EUR. Better value than any other guitar I tried up to 2400 EUR in Seville.

Hi manicfingers, I'm going to Sevilla in January 2013 for a week to buy a Flamenco guitar (blanca ), Have you got any suggestions on luthiers, shops (second hand as well) in Sevilla or Granada? I know J.L.Postigo, A.Bernal have shops in Sevilla. Thank you.
