manicfingers -> RE: Francisco Barba's Estudio model (Oct. 17 2012 17:50:43)

Yep - I bought a negra estudio model last year from their workshop, still have it. I was after a blanca, and went to a few luthiers in Seville, didn't find one that 'fitted' me, and Barba was my last stop. His blanca estudios were, to my ears, better than I found elsewhere, but I still wasn't 100% sold. Then I asked if they had anything else, and he brought out the negra studio model, and I nearly fell of the chair - amazing sound. They said it was a factory guitar, hand finished . I didn't delve much deeper as to exactly where it was made (as if they would admit it ..), as the most important thing for me was the sound, and how it felt to play. If it was made in a metal-topped shack by a bunch of robots in the guang dong province in china, then good job, fellas! I paid 1400 EUR. Better value than any other guitar I tried up to 2400 EUR in Seville.
