Greetings from Texas

Hi all. Although I've mostly lurked, I've felt very welcome the few times I've posted with questions or comments.

I come from a bluegrass/folk background. I've been "playing" steel-strung acoustic guitar and mandolin for about 18 years now (though I have not improved much since around year 2 or 3).

I just recently began lessons in classical guitar and feel like a brand new beginner all over again! I sound like one too!

I look forward to learning more about flamenco in the years to come.

Once again (now in the proper thread), welcome Cbecker.

I am eager to see/hear your rendition of country music on a Flamenco guitar. I had started indulging the oddity, but eventually transferred the music onto a steel string guitar where (my wife swears) the song now sound “right”.

But there certainly are a number of arpeggios which could sound better on Nylon, as in Carrie Underwood’s “Temporary Home”; even some flat picking may work, as in Zac Brown’s ostentatiously fast bluegrass solo, ending “Chicken Fried”.

What are your thoughts?

Ah, thank you! Chicken-Fried would be interesting. I really do like that song and hadn't thought about trying it out yet. I was recently working on his "knee-deep in the Water somewhere" or whatever that song is called using a rhumba-ish strum that I think I stole from the Gypsy Kings...

Carrie Underwood though... I haven't listened to too much of her music. She and I never really clicked.

Of course Jerry Reed and Chet Akins used Nylon strung guitars a good bit, especially late-on from what I recall seeing in televised/recorded concerts. Sure wish I had made the time to see them live.

Well, I may get brave and put some recordings up some time on a Youtube channel. But my playing turns to trash the moment I hit "record"!
