temperature and guitar

Hello guys,

couples days ago I moved to live in Kuwait and the weather here go up and down in crazy way.
tomorrow I will take my guitar with me out...the plan is to take the guitar in case, wait for a taxi in 50 C degree outdoor , take a taxi then play in cafe' where the AC is on where the temperature about 20C degree indoor, then go back again out door to have a taxi then go back home.
is it safe to take the guitar with no fears of damages or not?

Do 10 palmas, pray to saint Sabicas and you'll be forgiven if anything happens.

How long is the taxi ride and does it have A.C.? If your case has any padding in it at all it's going to hang on to that micro climate from your house for a good 20 mins of straight sun exposure. If the taxi has AC your fine, if it's going to bake in the taxi for 2 hours I would be a little worried.

guitars don't like temp changes....the more drastic the worse. Humidity is also bad and often tied to temperature issues.

On a side note I saw this thing on facebook I thought was funny....only because I am american or what?

Fahrenheit
0 degrees= very cold
100 degrees= very hot.

Celsius
0 degrees= very cold.
100 degrees = dead

Kelvin
0 degrees= dead
100 degrees = dead.

the thing i would worry about indoors and outdoors in kuwait is the lack of humidity. i would definitely put something in the guitar and case to humidify the guitar. i just looked on line and discovered in kuwait city today the temperature is 113 degrees and the relative humidity is 10%. the bottom line--your guitar will crack regardless where it is in kuwait unless you water it 24 hours a day.

Yes Keith you are absolutely right. I am lucky because my friends canceled the night out so I have much time to deal ith this situation.BTW the humidity here goes high in somedays when the wind comes from the sea. actually I am lost now I think I need to do some intensive care

Wood acclimates to some extent do if it hasn't cracked by now it probably won't any time soon. BUT an enviornment with super low humidity, or worse, wild fluctuations in humidity will eventually get to it. Might be worth investing in a humidacase if you don't have one.

I think it's hilarious, but I'm an American so my vote doesn't count.

You're welcome. But beeing much more serious. I remember that one winter I went to accompany dance classes. It was about - 25 °C. And I was travelling by bus with my guitar (about 40 minutes including waiting for the bus). I went inside the pleca, where the classes were, and whoaaaa... what a heat. I took my jacket off, and started to sweat while playing. Butt... i realisted something is not right out there. All the chicks were wearing hats, shawls and gloves while dancing. But there was a small thermometer in the end of the hall. I found out it was only 5 °C inside. In a second I started to feel cold:)
