2a with Cedar top

It seems like people are interested in videos of guitars so here's my latest.
I just strung up the guitar without finish.. it is a 2a with WRC/Spanish Cypress, and Pegheds.
There is no reverb or effects on the sound, I just played it in a totally empty 12'x15' room.
This sound is pretty typical of my Cedar top blancas. I did some work after this to get the basses more pronounced and I also know from experience that that will happen with time.

Hi there...pretty brave to hammer the guitar without a finish - you must have mastered the art of refraining from applying a golpe when it's least needed? good on ya!!!

Estasbanana posted a vid of him heavy metal spanking a plywood guitar that sounded not a million miles away from the sound of this guitar (through crap computer speakers with maybe crap recording medium?) not so long ago - this was described by a host of folk with a lot more knowledge than I have as having the characteristics of every wood from spruce to cedar to a whole lot of exotic choices...

I think your work looks great...I'm just not sure how to judge a guitar's character without it being completed, and sat on my own lap - then I'd probably still struggle unless I sat in my bathroom with them both together...but I'm sure my poor playing couldn't capture the nuances of a fine guitar.

I've probably waffled a bit - and will accept all forms of abuse...

Hey prd1. by hammer do you mean golpe above the strings? I didn't do any up there, just on the tap plate I taped on below (with DELICATE painter's tape )

It is hard to judge guitars over the internet and sitting down with a guitar and feeling it is just as important as the sound anyway. But I make videos of all my guitars for a few reasons: 1. I like to hear how they record, 2. It keeps my playing in shape to make videos and I might as well be playing my guitars, and 3. I like to entertain the good people here who have requested more videos of luthiers' guitars.

The sound does change a bit after the guitar is finished, in general I think it gets more focused but also loses a bit of volume at first until it has been played for a few hours.

Andy:
I have always been a fan, your guitar looks good and it sounds great. Look forward to seeing the pics of the finish guitar, and if you have time a video.
Thanks

I am interested in every video of every guitar you make andy . That was quite a harpsichord sound . Would love to hear a comparison video with the finished guitar in the same room .

Thanks guys, I will do a video of the guitar finished in the same room with the same recorder (my iPod touch)

gounaro, it is spoken for. Strings are Luthier 20 basses and D'addario EJ45 trebles.

The plywood Sherry Brenner I played is no match for this guitar. But guitars do get some damping from finish and they settle down a lot after finish. Finish quiets a lot of extraneous over tone noise you don't want.

Hi Andy - By hammer I meant to "give it some!!!"

Estabana...Did you keep that guitar in your shop for a while? - it would have been interesting to see if you thought the guitar retained the edge that influenced you to record and post after the new had worn off Crystal chandeliers...

So here it is... the same guitar totally finished.
I used the same recording setup (iPod) but I didn't have the patience to play the same music again
Also the iPod is a little further away. Too many variable to control anyway:

And for comparison here is another guitar I strung up today: a great Spruce top blanca, lots of fun to play.
