Spanish football is like that nowadays. I live here and I used to like it, but now I never see anything. I´ll prefer to watch Barnsley - Hartlepool on a rainy day or a match in the Danish league Spanish national team football is as boring as the italians when they were really boring. Its defensive football on the oponents half. Just killing time making short passing. No intentions, no "blood". Just another day in the office. What a waste of time. I only saw a part the game against France. Then I started doing something else. Even the Spaniards are getting tired of it. I hope they loose the next 100 matches because spanish footbal needs it. And I hope that Barcelona and Madrid end up in 2nd or 3rd division without any money. Then maybe I´ll start waching Spanish football again.
Anders, have no worries. Germany will beat Spain in the final. If find both teams pleasant to watch. But the Spain i saw against France doesnt make me think they can win the final.
I don't understand what people find so great about the Spanish team. I agree with Anders. It's just lots of nonsensical flashy crap that leads nowhere. Then they luck out with a single goal somewhere and because their opponents are ****ting their pants they'll never get in real danger.
I wouldnt say that getting the last European and World Championship is "nowhere".
Yeah, and how did they play? 1:0 for every match till the end. That is all they can do against actually capable teams. And it is certainly not fun to look at. I'd rather watch a mediocre team play passionate football instead of seeing these boring millionaires fiddle around for 90 minutes.
Yeah, and how did they play? 1:0 for every match till the end.
It doen't matter. They won the world cup. In the end, that's all that matters. You all may not like the way they play, sometimes I don't either, but there is a method to their madness.

Viva la furia roja!
Yeah but that is where I disagree. If it's JUST about the results, if the joy of watching football means nothing, we may as well just have a computer calculate the end results of a championship based on prior performance statistics and skip the whole silly "actually playing football" thing.

Your making it seem as if Spain is just a crappy team who gets lucky. They are a team with a lot of finesse and patience. They wear teams out with that patience. It may not be the most exciting team to watch but you can't say they are not a good team. They have not always been a team like this but this method has now won them a Euro and World cup.
I must be the only guy who loves Spanish football.
No of course they are a good team when it comes to results. If that's what matters to you, great. But they're not fun or gratifying to watch at all. To me as a viewer, that is what counts. They make football seem like a boring, businesslike affair and I don't enjoy that.

That is why I like to watch the Brazilians play. Even when they don't win championships, Brazil (for the most part) plays with boldness and imagination.
Cheers,
Bill

This whole 'Spain are a pack of boring primadonnas' is starting to get on my tits. Certainly watching them throughout a tournament gets quite tedious, but do you think they care? In the end they've been extremely successful. There's defensive football i.e Chelsea in the CL and there's Spain and Barca who play with real patience and technicality. Sure it gets boring, but thats because they play the other team out of the game - its really difficult to compete against them when they dominate possesion, and thats why they win. I really don't think its anti-football like Chelsea played in the semis and final. THAT was winning at the expense of the spectacle and it was especially bad when you consider the players they had.

Yes, someone who gets it! this was starting to get on my tits too.
I don't understand what you're all talking about. I watched a few of their games with my friend in addition to quite a few games in the world cup and they are amazing. It's not fast paced play really but they are by no means defensive. Their short passes are like that of no other team that I've ever watched. Sometimes watching them pass the ball I'm just amazed that they don't screw up and lose possession. What other team plays that tic-tac-toe kind of soccer, making HARD short passes while defenders are 2 metres away with so much confidence. True the German of Brazillian style is a bit faster paced but I think the Spanish team has so much imagination and that's what makes them so fun to watch.
