transparent nails

my nails became transparent while working on my new job
has anyone experienced it? and of so - does it mean they became weak?

What kind of job makes your nails transparent? Do you mean the white part (or the part that used to be white until this job came along) -?

Nails usually seem transparent as soon as they get thinner or if the get covered with oils. You are either getting thinner nails from whatever kind of activity or you work in an olive oil factory or such as...

How would we know that? They're your nails?

Are they weaker?

Todd beat me to it (ole ) - the answer is: you tell us.

quote:

i work with oils

I doubt that oil will weaken your nails, it could be good for them. (Especially olive oil or argan oil - I know they're both produced over there... but probably not used in a metal factory )

If you work with solvents, they will certainly weaken your nails. Oil or other liquid that is absorbed by the nail will just help to loosen whatever glue or other protection you apply, because the nails and the glue etc. have different rates of absorbtion and so expand and contract differently. That's my observation, anyway.

can you wear protective gloves at work?

if you can't tell that your nails are weak, then don't worry.
but in the long run, they'll get stronger if you use less protection.

use only opi, go break a nail, then come back to us and give us a report.
