Flamenco Guitar Schools in Spain

hey guys, hopefully one day we all get to get Spain (if you never have) and we all want to study in a flamenco school / Courses there. I have been doing my research and so far here is what I found:
1- "EL CARBONERO" School of Flamenco Guitar. JEREZ
http://guitarracarbonero.com/

2-Cristina Heeren Foundation, SEVILLE
http://www.flamencoheeren.com/

3- Gerardo Nunez Course, SANLUCAR
http://www.cursoflamenco.com/

4- The Oscar Herrero School, MADRID
http://www.oscarherrero.com/ingles/oscar_ingles_cursos.html

I was wondering if anyone here has been to these schools? is there more schools than the ones I mentioned above? if yes, please share links and information. if you have have been to any of the schools (mentioned above or not) what do you think? is there anything you can say that can be useful/helpful for future students?

the purpose of this topic is to be like a guide for students like me who would want to go some day to a school there. I just want to know what my options are and what your opinion/ recommendation is

if you have more to add to this list, please do. I would not like to see this topic dead, because a lot of members will at one point find this topic very useful.

Carmen has great players (Emilio Maya etc) but because of the structure where everyone leaves or joins in any given week they don't really teach anything else than a bunch of falsetas in a chosen palo a week. It's nice but not really enough as a complete education in flamenco. The language classes are fantastic though and it's a great place to meet people.

Friend I met in Granada told me El Carbonero is getting a bit old and it's not as good anymore as it used to be. Not sure how true that is.

A friend and my occasional teacher here in HK went to Cristina Heeren for 3 years and went from knowing zero flamenco to being a very well-rounded player. They focus a lot on accompaniment, apparently. Also the locals apparently all go there if they can afford it.

I'd go for Eduardo Rebollar. He teaches in Hereen, but he also has is own structure where he gives lessons. I suppose he does privates too.

great info. I'm firing off an email to Paco Navarro per your last message Kudo.

Two questions:

1) Anyone take the ~6 month Christine Hereen course?
2) Where did you live - i.e. cheap dorms, etc?

Thanks!

El Carbonero is not too old and his age certainly doesn't affect his teaching. I studied with him for 6 weeks in the summer of 2010 and again for a month last summer. His son, Carbonero Hijo, is starting to teach some of the local beginners / young students, but Carbonero does most of the teaching. Maybe this friend was referring to Jose Luis Balao, who also teaches in Jerez and is getting up there in years. I had a great time with Carbonero, learned a lot of material in a short time and would recommend him. Saludos.

Do anybody has some experiment with Rafael Canizares linked here by Ramzi?

http://www.lasonanta.es/index.php/english/2008072113/Faqs/Rafael-Canizares.html

He's in Barcelona and that would be much cheaper from here...

just my experience from the school, I wouldn't go to el carbonero, i could elaborate but won't! I'm studying with people that have learnt from him, and they complain that he didn't teach them properly and they had to fix their technique, plus after paying 15 euros per class for 2 months then finding out the normal price is 5.8euro leaves a bad taste in your mouth

thanks man for sharing this information, this confirms my doubts about el carbonero! from what I have seen so far from him and his students online, I thought maybe its not a good school...

5,80 euros for a guitar class!!! And you believe them?
Give us some name please. I'm sure your smart friends have informed you. Share it!!
edit: you might talk about the price for a complete year subscription. Or for a 6 month duration...

yeah kudo do not go there. It's safer for you. With your "i don't care about compas" attitude, you might end up with a kick in your asss...

Theres the guiri price and the real price

If you said so...that must be the same when a tourist visit a local andalusian luthier to buy a guitar. He'll end up with the guiri price or with the guitarra para el guiri

you dont seem to understand that there are times where its better not to care about compas for a moment... I can play in compas if i want to, and you know that...
