Soundport Cover

I saw this on the website of one of my favorite steel string luthiers, and thought I would post it in case any of you are interested in the concept. IMO it's a fairly elegant solution for the customer that wants the effect of a soundport but maybe not all the time. I dunno, what do you guys think?

beneteauguitars.com:

Recently I came up with this solution to the problem of having a Sound Port but not wanting to utilize it all the time. My cover is curved to match the side and is a press fit into the port hole. Lined with cork, it will not damage the finish and, when in place, looks completely natural. - Marc Beneteau

This with something looking "completely natural" can be discussed from now on to eternity.
The idea is good and not to difficult to make but I cant personally see the "natural" part of the design.

I guess if you make the hole too big and overpowering you have to think up solutions for that problem. I would have just gone with a smaller hole, simpler that way.

That's almost as hilarious as Doit's "protection" post...

(Guess it's just a filthy mind... )

Tell me how exactly.. I will follow your instructions for sure. btw. Its not conan..its MacLeod from Highlander. This avatar is a challenge avatar. It just shows that Im still in the challenge...its a fight to get better skills in particular bulerias. I will change it immediately when I finish the challenge. If I cant finish it ecause Im not good enough..I wont ever change it. Its my rule.. I cant break it. I used to have nicer avatars.

I just wonder why everybody who tries to attack me picks on the avatar in a misunderstood way... Oo

My favorite avatar was "quartermaine and two gays".

And while the protection post was funny i always loved when after a very long detailed post you respond with:

.

Oh about sound port cover.... I think what was meant by "natural" was the wood grain looks like it matches that's all. Just give a man a hole and he will find a way to plug it... It's only "natural" after all.

Also a very cool character. Conan would also not that bad... in comparison to "The Barbarians" from 1987. They were at least very funny.

Doitsujin - It has been rumored for centuries that a certain Spaniard from Egypt with a Scottish accent taught Connor Macleod the art of Flamenco....and sword fighting.

Did anyone else think it was strange he trained him so thoroughly knowing full well...."there could be only one"?

There can be only one ... doitsujin Epic thread diversion, guys! haha

Well, I'm not sure if one could come up with a more "natural" solution to covering a soundport - it's not very traditional, but neither are ports.
