I saw this on the website of one of my favorite steel string luthiers, and thought I would post it in case any of you are interested in the concept. IMO it's a fairly elegant solution for the customer that wants the effect of a soundport but maybe not all the time. I dunno, what do you guys think? beneteauguitars.com: Recently I came up with this solution to the problem of having a Sound Port but not wanting to utilize it all the time. My cover is curved to match the side and is a press fit into the port hole. Lined with cork, it will not damage the finish and, when in place, looks completely natural. - Marc Beneteau Images are resized automatically to a maximum width of 800px

This with something looking "completely natural" can be discussed from now on to eternity. The idea is good and not to difficult to make but I cant personally see the "natural" part of the design.

I guess if you make the hole too big and overpowering you have to think up solutions for that problem. I would have just gone with a smaller hole, simpler that way.

It just shows that Im still in the challenge...its a fight to get better skills in particular bulerias. I will change it immediately when I finish the challenge. If I cant finish it ecause Im not good enough..I wont ever change it. Its my rule.. I cant break it. I used to have nicer avatars. I think what was meant by "natural" was the wood grain looks like it matches that's all. Just give a man a hole and he will find a way to plug it... It's only "natural" after all. [;)]
