Ricardo Playing "Django"

My father died when I was 17 and some friends and colleagues put on a tribute concert in his memory. I was feeling sentimental because the guy that took his place in his group, his student Phil Mathieu, I just heard passed away last night, so I dug up this old video. I was pretty sad, but man it's funny to see me playing back then!

So they invited me up to play Django, a standard by MJQ. I trade solos with Charlie Byrd. The line up (left to right) is Carlos Barbossa-Lima, then the Washington Guitar quintet (Phil in place of my dad, Myrna Sislen, Charlie Byrd, Jeff Meyericks, Larry Snitzler) and myself. I was into rock and metal so I just played my classical guitar with a pick back then. Just thought I would share with you guys.

That's a sweet tribute. I imagine your old man would be pretty stoked to see how far you've come since then.

And I hope you didn't wear a Willie Hole into you guitar with that pick....

Ole' for all that beautiful Jazz:)) so you have it in your blood as we say here:) Good for you maestro:)) I've always wanted to play the guitar in a younger age but i never got the chance.. Those who had it must be special and you are one of those Ricardo. Great playing maestro.
