Savarez Red Card string

It sounded good last week when I picked my blanca up from the luthier after the repairs.. but now the bass has lost it brilliance.. I think it occured about 5-6 days after it got put on.. Now the basses feel softer and lack the 'ringing' tone..

anyone else uses these strings? pretty crap I think to lose it's brilliance after 5-6 days..

These strings have THE best sound... for a couple of hours.

haha at least now I know, I was like it alot when it was new, I was thinking of getting another set for my negra.. And I don't play alot, just 1-2 hours per day.

now I'm definitely staying off it. My D'addario on my negra still sound new after 2 months..

I've used Savarez red cards on my blancas for decades. They last fine for me. The basses do well for me until they are visibly dirty. But I haven't bought any in the last couple of years, since I stocked up a while back.

Try Savarez Corum W/ Alliance basses; very clear, articulated, and full basses which have very good lasting power. The trebles remain bright forever it seems. I use the high tension.

yes they stay bright but after a couple of months they get flatspots over the frets and eventually the top E-string will fray and break .
and they're expensive.

RE: Savarez Red Card string (in reply to mark74

Hi mark
I have about 8 sets of these to get through
I am currently alternating changes with luthier 20's ( my default go to string )
They were suggested by the previous owner of my media luna as the best string for that guitar
Treble wise I think he's right though the luthiers also sound great
But the red card do have a beautiful bright sizzle to them on this guitar
I also like the feel of rectified nylon
I can leave the trebles on for a month or two ( i have the guitar in my hands about between 5-9 hours a day either teaching, accompanying or gigs (
Loud, bright but with a sweetness when needed ... Very expressive string .., tension feels great

The basses are bright at first but round off after a week or two
Great sound ( maybe a bit too bright at first ) but again powerful
They will last me a few weeks before I need to change
I think I'm leaning more towards the luthier as basses

Also tried combining sets which also seems to work

My opinion ?
I think they are a great string for sure particularly the trebles
Once the 8 sets are done I will keep buying them but also use the luthiers as a primary string choice

Hope that helps

Corum basses are very good strings in my experience, currently on all my guitars, BTW alliances are carbon trebles...

I recently tried royal classics' fl 60 Flamenco strings, and they're suprisingly good. I like the feel of it, it's not rigid.
I also like the savarez rectified nylon, and rectified string in general.

It's been my experience that bass string's reliability are the Red Card's strength.

They last as long as any bass set that I've used. True, the tone might decline, but they will last. I use them on my classical guitars that I rarely use. I won't find a broken string after sitting idle and I am ready to play.
