Saludos and an introduction

Hello everyone.

My name is Fernando and I have been lurking around these forums for over a year now. I wanted to introduce myself and at the same time thank you all for all the valuable information you have shared. This forum has helped de-mystify flamenco to some extent and give me the encouragement to stick to it after what seems to be very slow measured progress.

I have been taken private lessons in NYC for about 1.5 years and just recently joined a small group lesson for some additional practice. I also will be attending a 2 week workshop in Granada this august which I'm really looking forward to. The thought of two weeks away from NY, work, family and the daily hustle seems magical to me a this point.

I was born and raised in norther Spain but in fortunately it was in a region with little flamenco influence or scene. I remember my sisters taking flamenco dance when they were little but there was little offered to young boys in term of dance, guitar or cante, which is a bummer. It seems that early exposure would have made a huge difference. Right now I live in norther NJ with my wife and 2 kids and work in NYC.

Thank you all for all the valuable information on this forum and hope to some day be able to contribute in a meaningful way.

Fernando

Welcome!

I am not a longtime member here, but I can say that joining this forum has been one of the best online experiences I have had, and I have learned a lot and even met some great people.

You sound like you are well on your way! Don't be shy to ask questions, share any knowledge you may have and so on...

And very expensive too... Maybe I'll check Hannabach 815 Low Tension. I heard good reviews.
