When thinking about palams an old story comes into my mind.
I rememebr I went to a gig of Perdo Sierra here in germany. He toured alone. Just him and his guitar. Somebody had the great idea to hire some "local gitanos" for palmas and jaleos.. It turned out to be a dumb idea.
They hired an old couple. Both in the late 60th.... and a little bit confused (turned out to be drunk!).. They had no idea about palmas, compas..of whatever... all wrong. The guy recognized that ...maybe..... and left the stage during the show.. The old lady too a break... went behind these carpets that cloak the lights that shine from the side on the stage.. I was in the 2nd row and still saw her standing there .... She too a beer or schnapps or something...and chugged that in one row...and barged back on stage... She was maybe already drunken before she appeared the first time on stage... It was all so weird.. Even Pedro Sierra had some smiles about that... Another funny thing was that it was so cold on stage that Pedro Sierra apologized after the first composition that he cant move his fingers coz was so cold... Man..what a weird evening...
Yes we are!!! But are getting crazy doin all the palmas courses!!!! Just came back from A'dam....went yesterday to El Duende and had a nice concert, some nice food, and too much wine. (A dropfeet and walking fast around corners don't do well :)
Looking forward to next week! Nice to see Annemerie also!
The concert on thursday starts at 21:00 but from 20:00 there's a lecture from Faustino Nunez.
There's a lot to see and do. I've asked Maria Spaans (form Terremoto Amsterdam) yesterday if there will be any "afterparties"....not officially, but hey we can make them our own aint it.
Cheers

Yip Ramsy! The drop-feet doesn't give much stabillity, which you need when there's more wine inside your body than blood....tomorrow I'll see a doctor. It seems that "someone" wants to keep me to stay low for a while
Fortunately my pain-level has raised in the last year, so its only a minor bug
I'm sure there will be some afterparties.. Last time we had a very nice one in Moraíto's hotel room :) He was frying setas for everyone, wine magically appeared and El Pele was reading my palm ("You must leave your boyfriend") :D

Hi, I am not sure if am going to make it. My ankle is broken...and wednesday I'll have to go back to the hospital...hopefully I am allowed to walk with the plaster then. I did now, but the plaster had been broken and that was not without consequence, so yesterday they had to re-apply it.
I read the Moraito will not be there because of some illness, ..too bad.
I think I went to the same "horrible" Pedro Sierra concert It was in Düsseldorf or Essen, don't know exactly any more. I've seen a clip of Pedro Sierra before in the net, didn't know him before and thought: great guy, worth to visit! But I saw and heard a bad-tempered artist moaning about everything: the temperature - he always looked at the ceiling and rubbed his hands - the....everything, I think he really was pissed off! We have been kinda disappointed I have to admit, but everybody recognized the bad palmeros, really an impertinence! Even the folk who didn't know about flamenco thought that somehow something went wrong.... If I see clips of him today I wish I had seen him in that condition This was the second worst flamenco concert I have seen so far.
Yeah, I've got two tickets for Moraito on Sunday. Having seen the documentary on tv a couple of days ago I believe this to be a good opportunity to see and hear him perform live, with some kind of group so I understood.

Ya'll have fun and become inspired!
Greeny, Moraito isn't there because he's sick. Diego del Morao will replace him.
