quote:
Building orders is safety. You kow more or less how much money you´ll earn. But safety is not always the way to go. At least not for me. Safety can easily mean boredom and a feeling of not going anywhere. ….so many times, in the past 20 years of my carrier of architect, here in south Italy ( where you project your first building, often small houses, only after so long time ) I felt “boredom and a feeling of not going anywhere”…. so many times I regret the choice I made to not remain in the USA (I worked there 1985-1988) because over there, today I would have been certainly a rich architect!.....Here I had to “built myself” as a professional , day by day… working more than 12 hours a day (within the holidays!) ! true! … this since 5 years ago! Only in the last 5 years things are going better. That has been the main reason I had never time to play my classical guitar!, I lost a lot! in technical and in reading music; I had periods of time very depressing and economically BAD!!... But I love my trade! and I NEVER forgot what an old architect once told me - more or less goes like this: if you'll be an architect honest, you'll never become rich! .. instead you will have the wealth and the beauty of this art, the consolation for have made small but good works, the affection and esteem of those who love you .... after all what matters most in life if you decide to be not a stupid person or an honest professional? ……those words have always comforted me, helping to resist and to have confidence in the future! Now, talking about money, I understand it is not fare that more passion we have in working and less money we make! but this seems to be the fate of honest people! NOW..... I am happy to spend my life being not rich but with the love of my family, few true friends and playing guitar ……and somehow, I am gratefull that you, with your splendid guitars, have a place in this small story! So my tanks to you Anders will never be enough, You are an exemplary person, honest and a VERY BRAVO LUTHIER. ciao Giambattista
