Masters Graduation Day

graduating today with my Masters in Criminal Law and Human rights, now for the real world of work and the pursuit of a succesful career .

so many things to look forward to, being lumbered with a 30 year mortgage, higher taxes on my salary, whiny little kids asking for pocket money for the latest shoot em' up thriller, getting the widow's brows and all hair eventually falling out due to a stressful career...

all just in time to get my body duffed up on the verge of a heart attack and my pensions been screwed outta me even more by some pencil neck politician in some shady back room with some conniving bankster.

to hell with all that, things will all work out

the last bit was for you Ron.

Congratulations, Henry! You've worked hard and I hope the ceremony is rewarding for you in some way. Personally, things have only gotten better for me over the years: autonomy, self-realization, security, stability, perspective, empirical knowledge, etc. The disadvantages you mention come with nearly all professions. You may be facing some particular challenges in your career, but I'm sure you'll maintain your balance and footing (and in times of uncertainty, you'll probably find a metaphor or a koan or something that will dispel any doubts).

I used to be an angry young man, but every day I'm closer to being a grumpy old man.

well at least there is mi segunda tierra Xerez

its the only place i've felt as comfortable as i do in my own town, the people are nice, the lifestyle and of course the guitar. the trips i make there are like the little chinks of light renewing my happiness.

Congratulations, Henry!

You've obviously got the reality of the situation already worked out, so there is nothing I can add to your very accurate description of the years to come...

cheers,

Ron

Great stuff, congratulations! A little birdie told me that whiskey is good for stress but I wouldn't know about that
