Congratulations, Henry! You've worked hard and I hope the ceremony is rewarding for you in some way. Personally, things have only gotten better for me over the years: autonomy, self-realization, security, stability, perspective, empirical knowledge, etc. The disadvantages you mention come with nearly all professions. You may be facing some particular challenges in your career, but I'm sure you'll maintain your balance and footing (and in times of uncertainty, you'll probably find a metaphor or a koan or something that will dispel any doubts). I used to be an angry young man, but every day I'm closer to being a grumpy old man.
