- December 10, 12:30 pm: La Cadena Ser reported that Enrique Morente is in a coma by a stroke.

The singer Enrique Morente Granada remains in a coma, stable within the gravity and breathing spontaneously but doctors do not dare to tell the family whether it can recover. Morente few days ago he suffered a stroke after undergoing surgery for esophageal cancer last Friday at La Clinica de La Luz, Madrid.

Yeah, it's on El País now as a breaking story, so it looks like it's true. Here's the family's press release as reported by the copyright authority SGAE:
La familia Morente hace una declaración sobre el estado de Enrique Morente.
La familia Morente quiere hacer público, a través del presente comunicado, que, según las últimas informaciones médicas, Enrique Morente se encuentra actualmente en estado de muerte cerebral, aunque conserva sus constantes vitales.
La familia desea dar a conocer, igualmente, que hasta el pasado sábado, día 11, no tuvo constancia de que el estado de Enrique Morente era el de un coma profundo, como consecuencia directa de la operación realizada, con carácter de urgencia, en la madrugada del día 6, por el doctor D. Enrique Moreno, el anestesista doctor Rubio y su equipo médico, en la clínica La Luz de Madrid, en cuya Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (U.C.I.) ha permanecido ingresado en los últimos días.
Por último, la familia quiere reiterar su sincera gratitud hacia todas las personas que en estos difíciles momentos nos han trasladado su afecto y cariño a la figura de Enrique Morente.
Cualquier cambio en la evolución del paciente será notificada oportunamente. La familia confía plenamente en los designios de Dios.
