Bernal's Prodigio Especial (Pegs)

Hello, i just saw that Valeriano Bernal has Prodigio model with pegs and i really like this guitar (as a first sight). I dont know how it sounds and what set up has.

Check this

Has anyone tried this guitar? Do you recommend me to buy this one? I know that i have to play some guitars before buying but in my country very few stores got what i want.

I haven't tired this actual guitar but I have played about 20 or 30 Bernals including several prodigio model.

I found the set up good on all the Bernals I've tried. Low action and comfortable neck shape, the pulsation suits me and they are very responsive. They have a good flamenco sound; as a general comment I would descibe them as quite aggressive, a little rough/earthy but very flamenco. Of course not all guitars are equal and some I tried are better than others but the consistancy is reasonable.

In the €1200 range they're a good choice.

I'll never understand professional guitar sellers.. how can they possibly sell a guitar without getting a decent player to record a sound file, and put it in the advert ? Isn't the sound the most important thing ?

For cheaper guitar ranges, they could even just record one guitar of a model range, and put that up.. just something to give you an idea for the sound. For expensive/individual guitars, insist on a recording of that specific guitar.

I encourage everyone to fire off an email to any guitar selling site to tell them you wouldn't consider doing business with them unless they do.

</end rant>

In my opinion a sound file doesn't actually tell you that much anyway. The process of recording can often make a guitar sound better or worse than it is and generally isn't a reliable indication of it's true sound.
There is no reliable way to buy a guitar long distance, without trying it's always a gamble.

Completely agree with you there. A sound file on a web site means nothing because of the room its recorded in, the type of mic used, EQ on the soundfile, your computor speakers plus the actual guitarist.

Bernal are extremely reputable and will happily refund or exchange any instrument if you are not completely satisfied. The playability is guaranteed the same on all their instruments since they use the same jigs and cutting tools from the most basic to professional models. All handmade instruments have an individual sound but judging the sound quality from a web site is is a bit like trying to judge the drivability of a car from watching a video of a professional driver.

Exactly as orsonW said. Sound files don't tell you jack. They are an approximation and can often either make a guitar sound better or worse. That is why the professional guitar sellers offers a trial period.
