Nearly the weekend....

Im really excited.

friend of mine phoned me today to tell me they got great seats at the palacio de congresos in Granada to see a show on friday night.

Its marina Heredia introducing her new album featuring guest artists Parrita, Farruquito....and Diego Morao. Ive never seen Diego live and am really looking forward to the whole night....and of course Marina and Farruquito are both very easy on the eye too.

I'll try to give a full report and photos on Saturday

Sounds great Pim! I have seen Diego with El Cigala, but he wasn't really used to his best. Please post review!

Wow...I had a busy weekend which started really well with the Concert of Marina Heredia to promote her new CD "MARINA" which has now been released.

The usual suspects from Granada turned up in suits at the palacio de congressos , filled the cheap seats and then as soon as the house lights went down ran on mass (about 200 people) to fill up any empty expensive seats near the front.
It never ceases to make me smile that this is normal behaviour at Granada concerts.
Marina came on stage and sang a Martinete under a single spotlight that was very moving before launching into a catchy tangos with the rest of the group.

There was a musical break from the band while she changed into a "caballero" outfit with wide brimmed hat and brought on her next Guest Diego Morao to accomany her singing siguirillas. All I can say is Wow! Ive never seen Diego before live and he is a truly great player. He's going to have a terrific career if he keeps playing at this level.

The number of video cameras recording the night was very high. Later in the show marina brought Parrita on to the stage. The duet is recorded here. Diego is on guitar.

Later she introduced Farruquito to thunderous applause to accompany an Alegrias and then a fin de fiesta with everyone. It was a really good show and didnt try to be too clever. It was no frills flamenco but performed extremely well. Marina has a wonderful voice with a great deal of power, control and emotion. The reception at the end was very good, a standing ovation and I really think that this new CD will place Marina as one of the top female vocalists in the flamenco world today.
