Do we hear PdL's new falsetas here?

In the other thread I linked to the most recent vid of Paco on the Internet:

...and had some thoughts that made me scratch my forehead.
I quote myself (feels cool ):
quote:

Btw, something very interesting is actually going on in that clip IMO.
First Seguiriyas Luzia, then at around 3.00 change to SolxBul (those falseta(s), the beautiful refrain, i don't remember hearing before) and just when the vid stops, the Luzia letra sung por soleares. Too bad it's cut.

These observations are based only on trusting my ears though, so it'd be great if someone could confirm them.

Is this new stuff? :O

Its very hard. Definitely some solxbul going on in the middle. But at the end the cajon plays in 3s and after that they get back into Seguiriyas. Ah ok now i get it. He uses the falseta as transition between solxbul and seguiriyas. Very witty, i like that. I dont know about the falsetas though.

yeah at 3:03 Farruco does a llamada in the middle of siguiriyas that shifts the feel to Solea por buleria. I guess that is new material but it is hard to hear. Then the singing is solea, and at the end they start that Luzia melody in the middle of the compas, I assume because they are going back to siguiriyas again. Too bad we can't see it well, but it sounds like new stuff in C#.

Just back from the concert. <3

It gets even cooler! This may be the best thing of the whole concert IMO.
Ok, so first Luzia seguiriya, then llamada and cambio to solea por bulerias, at the 'Luzia letra' cambio to TANGOS, just for 30 seconds, llamada and cambio to BULERIAS.

Totally OLE!!

Ok, here's me posing on still warm Paco's chair with the rainforest in the background.

Ok, more videos from Belgrade are up (check the uploader for more):

You can hear him messing up the rondena and going off the stage to calm the nerves. He really isn't in the best shape these days, he was messing up quite a lot also in Ljubljana, 'mumbling' through the falsetas from Cositas... I'm afraid he's not really able to play that stuf he had been composing in the years up to Cositas... He's an old man after all. Well, we'll see what he comes up with on the next album, I might be wrong.
And I'm not saying that because a few technical flaws the concert as a whole suffered. It was amazing and will stay in my memory forever as one of the most emotionally intense experiences. Ok, Duquende could've sung more.

And the Luzia->solxbul->tangos->bulerias (again cut befor the end) piece.

Different version than the one in Sarajevo and also different from the one in Ljubljana if i remember correctly (the cambios were different). I think it is very cool.

Oh, and I seem to be talking to myself here . It's really MY thread!!

I think and hope so. Hes still a monster of a guitarist Im sure. Maybe not too much motivated...? I mean where the **** is Ljubljana? He can mess around there... hehe..

Joke aside. If you compare his live playing from "luzia" even with the beginning of cositas buenas.. I had the impression that he always really messes up "antonia" on stage... Great sportsmen like boxers stop with the career when they won everything. The few who went on like holyfield lost their "aire"... When I remember the fight Holyfield vs. Valujev... man..that was a poor fight from both. Lets see what Paco does in the next years. Going on and playing worser step by step or stop touring. I think also when he ends up with parkinson or whatever..he will still be able to play muuuch better then I would ever be able to become.. It will always be a pleasure to se a legend live.

Lol Doit! True, where the **** is Ljubljana. Ricardo would say 'that's where all the porn stars come from!'

Agree 100%.
And I hope that if I see another concert of him that he doesn't finish with Entre Zwei Waters or... ... or... eh. He always will I guess.

well, for sure he won't be able to play La Barossa with the same clean technique and perfection like he did 20 years ago. but show me one single guitarist with his age, who still gives such concerts or who still plays such difficult pieces.

man, my old man (more or less same age) needs one week vacation after one single long flight because of a jetlag or something.

and paco is touring all around the world with all these concerts.
so kudos for that.
Ole Maestro.

Its such an irony that it was his picado which was still smoking when i saw him 3 years ago. Well, he shouldnt have composed such complicated pieces like Antonia
Kidding, ITS PACO, MAN!!

I am very curious to know what kind of Blanca is he playing? It is not his usual conde, is it?

Is it a Devoe blanca or PDL blanca?

DeVoe. You can see some photos here: http://24ur.com/ekskluziv/glasba/foto-strast-flamenka-ob-zvokih-kitare.html

I read on PdL Foro that he had 3 nails broken in Belgrade...

Wow, it is his Devoe Blanca. He got this Devoe thru a trade of his Negra (played in the movie "Flamenco") with El Viejin.

Thanks Matic for the link. Great photos too.

FYI writing Solxbul is lame. To shorten solea por bulerias the cool kids say SPB. Which is also lame, but less so.

Brought to you by the FBI. Flamenco Bureau of Investigation.

Man I hope you're wrong about Paco not being able to play anymore, and that it's just his nails that weren't in shape.

I bought the tickets to his concert in Bruxelles (Brussel).
Can't wait to see the real man after 12 years of listening to him and spreading the word to everyone around me that he is in fact jesus and thus god.

I remember how much I was amazed from a concert of Vicente 3 years ago... for a week, I felt like I had never played guitar after seeing him.

I'm guessing i'm gonna feel that for a month with Paco. I hope not longer though, I still have my composition to work on for the contest!
