RE: soundportparty in my patio (in reply to Florian)
im curious what the effects the size of sound port makes. does a bigger hole mean more bass? have you noticed any difference from adding the two extra holes than when you had only the star shape?

Wow M.S.A , fish on a bicycle , look great yet heres the real story.
I know its Ricardo's Conde , here is a PMessage i got from him.
Dear FF member
You must help , during the recent Sanlucar guitar Spectacular we had a very big night too much fun, way too many drinks ,G.Nunez and me went Bowling, yet for got a bowling ball so i got my conde out and proceed to make 3 holes in it (Fish on bicycle style, (It seemed like a good idea at the time, now im stuck with a holy guitar (Work of Art !), please donate money to ASAP, best wishes Ricardo
RE: soundportparty in my patio (in reply to minordjango)
Yes it is indeed Ricardo's guitar, but please, keep it for yourself. I only borrowed his picture. But allegedly it is not supposed to be a fish on a bike, but a bike in a belly of a fish. it is not yet visible, but when the ornament will be done, it will eventually become obvious.
[or maybe it's an abstract shape which has no direct connection to underwater life or cycling, but people seem to connect innocent abstractions with weird personifications their mind creates...]

I have just few days ago drilled additional 2 holes into it
MSA dont take this the wrong way mate but i love you lol ...u a legend ...not like this poofs " OH OH my poor guitar ...dont put a hole in my guitar " lol u just dont give a sh*t, get in the and stick a hole in that mof.. hehehe....thats a mans hole too ! not one of this pretty, perfect litlle girly holes like we have ...u a legend in my book !!...

these two additional holes are the maximum and I am not going farther as I am not willing to destroy this what I already have. but I will continue in carving around with a knife so it will get some nice ornaments too.
i know...u better stop now before all that is left of your guitar is sounports and strings lol

Florian, it really has a LOT LOT LOT better sound than before, mate. even this rough and """"UNFINISHED"""" shape and splinters around have no serious effect on it. As it was said before by some of the luthiers here, Helmholtz resonance is by drilling a hole into the body remarkably altered what has a serious impact on the sound, volume, colour and dimensional projection of the sound and I think many people here tend to think I am putting my guitar under some weird mutilation. NO - the guitar is much more alive. I was indeed a little concerned what will happen if I drill into it another 2 holes, but this risk was well worth and it wasn't beig risk at all as I have said this guitar costed me 67 Euros - well now it's worth at least 900 euros if we take only a sound into consideration!!! of course the look of the guitar is disastrous for the moment, but wait when I'll be done with refinishing all the surface and so on. I will completely change the entire guitar's appearance and structurally it will become a new guitar
u dont need to sell it to me amigo i am with you..i belive you
but are you talking about even since the first hole ?...is there a huge noticeable difference that u can hear from the time u only had 1 hole to the 3 ???
RE: soundportparty in my patio (in reply to M.S.A.)
oh oh ...now u making me confused about what i want...
so are you gonna do it to other guitars ? i want proof...i want someone with balls to do the 3 holes to a more expensive guitar and and hear that they are happy cause this is all i have theres no way back after ..is not that i dont belive you or trust you ...i just wanna make sure its not an accident or u just got really lucky on that guitar...before i comit to 3 holes...and tell me what it sounds like after the strings die a litlle too.....do u get alot of noise ?
and man some soundfiles experimenting would be amazing...u know ..like do a sound file with all holes covered (having the mic where your ear is)...one with one port...one with 2 ...one with 3...etc..i just wanna see if i can pick the difference...if you have the time
RE: soundportparty in my patio (in reply to M.S.A.)
cheers man..
Anders...what do you say ? have you experimented with a couple of different soundport setups before you arrived to the one u like ? what did u think ? or has anyone got a couple of different setups in simillar guitars ? anyone in a good position to compare and give some description of differences between the different setups ...

yes Florian, recording will happen tomorrow if everything goes right. I myself have no recording capacity at the moment but already thinking of some pro tools or something, but need to educate myself in this are cause I haven't been focused on recording untill recently.
but I will meet my friend on monday, who is a sound engineer with quite a good accessories, so it will probably happen. I'm gonna make a real soundsample as you suggest and as I was intending to. you will have it in a TOP quality.
excellent amigo, thank you i appreciate that...yeah man , thats a good idea.. get your mate to help you with some advice to set yourself up at home as cheap and as good as possible...and what u need...very usefull to be setup for half decent recording...for educating purposes ( to test yourself) and ofcourse its good to have audios if someone wants to know what u sound like when trying to hire u for as gig
