I havent seen the DVD for a while, but as far as I remember he doesn´t say much, he shows how to do things. That´s what is so good in this video, that Gerardo is VERY good at showing things. What he sais is (as far as I remember) something to do with seperating the notes (hammer) versus less seperation of notes (rest stroke) The whole idea is to get a tecnical background and then later on use it in the music. The hammer thumb, is very flamenco, and I try to use it as much as I can, but of course, when you are playing fast, it´s impossible, and when you are playing thumb arpeggios, rest strokes may give you a better feeling of playing chords. The best part in the DVD is where he (in solea por Bulerias) explains the difference between Pi (thumb index) technique and Alzapua. For him it´s all Alzapua. A lot of people with Alzapua troubles should work that. Learn to play falsetas with both techniques It really helps
