Index Finger Golpe, Help Pls!

Hello all, I'm having trouble with the Index down golpe....you know the one that you use on the upper golpeador. I can kinda do it, but i keep hitting the flesh above my nail....after about 5 times, it's already sore...i know if i keep doing it, I'll start spewing blood everywhere, pass out, and eventually die.

I looked on youtube but couldn't find any useful videos on this specific topic. except one guy said it helps to twist your hand a bit....
p.s. my action is decently low...i think 8 mm? not sure

After you bleed and later heal, you will develop a tough callous and then you can do it whenever you want no pain. No pain no gain.

8 mm is really a good measure and won´t cause a problem. Make sure your nail looks 0,5 to 1 mm over the flesh by watching your fingers onto the inside of your hand. Open hand, straight fingers like you were holding a book. Perhaps your nail needs to be reinforced; I recommend to visit a nail studio serving your stroke hand.

If I find time and can keep my son´s camcorder, then I´ll make a short video demo.

This rumbero covers it briefly, hope you know french lol

That used to happen to me, I kept doing it anyways and one day it just stopped. I don't know if I'm more precise or I built up a callous but it's a non-issue now.....
PS I did bleed a few times from it, let it heal and went back to it lol

One time when I was managing restaurants this server cut his finger A TINY BIT, so we went to the office to put a band-aide on it. When we pulled away the napkin and he saw the blood, he made a girl noise and passed right out, one of the funniest things I ever saw!!

haha! that's hilarious...about the server.

I guess with a lot of techniques i have already learned....i learned them the way you described, i kept doing it for a long time...i knew something didn't quite feel right but one day i just started doing it the right way or more precise and it stuck.
i'm trying to be better at identifying my problem areas and then isolating them, discipline is torture to me...but i have to do eet ! haha

I guess i'll practice it till it hurts, and then move onto something else. developing a callous while i learn it, until i get it down just right.

that rumbero seems more skilled than most.

Take 100 flamenco guitar solo pieces and how many times you'll hear the "index finger golpe"? I spare myself the practice and just do it if it's necessary, and I'll accept if it doesn't come out perfect, rather than getting sore with practice
