OK Rafael is a great player and I am naturally as jealous as a fellow should be.

Honestly though doesn't anyone else wish players focused on finding more sophisticated and harmonically adventurous runs. I mean the same four or five ideas faster and faster for thirty years ?

Sure there has been loads of harmonic and rhythmic development for flamenco guitar and great new textures. But seldom does a run emerge that couldn't have been cropped from the Sabicas handbook (a rare exception is the Nino Josele augmented sequence someone posted ages ago ).

Anyone else care ?

Mind you I could just be showing my ignorance of current innovation, all recommendations welcome.

I hear you guitarbuddha but it looks like he's just playing around so he's just playing whats on the record.
Still effing incredible. I dunno, so there's no roids that can make that possible for me??

He is just noodling around at home, this isn't a preview of his new album. Geez.

Can anybody slow it down?

It reminds me of the fight we had long back where Todd and Grisha said Cerreduela and company were only playing triplets at 240 ish and I thought it was 16ths in spots. This run, if it is 16ths (I actually can't tell cuz at this speed I can only to triplets and would never attempt 16ths except with pick and just going for it hoping for the best). I would say by the sound if he IS playing all the notes, it's darn fast....I hope he modified it to triplets. Somebody slow it down so I can sleep please!!!

EDIT: I tried the pause plus fast forward trick on that vid, and he does play all the notes, but he starts on the down beat...vs PDL who starts on the & after beat one. Basically making the scale 2 16th notes (only) shorter of each run. But it comes out fine. So that means he does some sort of note cramming that I can't percieve because the slowed down sound is not clear. Perhaps it's 2 groups of 7tuplets ? In any case it is NOT exactly what paco does a bit slower.

240 minus an eighth =210 roughly.

Check Joscho out at 3.17 for nearly three bars at this tempo (as opposed to nearly one).

Anyway doesn't Paco regularly play the intro to mediteranean sundance with Al D. in demisemiquavers at 120 ish ( shorter run mind).

Haven't we all got tricks we can pull off at around 200bpm in semis, 300 in triplets ?

Download and rename to .mp3 for it to open. Slowed down to 60% of original.
