Foroflamenco

I have been here on Foroflamenco for a number of years now and was just thinking about all the different topics of discussion, argument, highs and lows whilst we have been on our flamenco paths. It made me look at the posts which have had the most activity in the last few years. What subjects really made our attention and caused the most debate? What do we like to talk about? Most subjects dont get 1000 hits. Anything above 4000 is an unusually popular thread.

I checked the subjects by numbers of hits. That means not only foro members but people worldwide getting information from Foroflamenco on the following subjects.
OFF TOPIC
Bad menu translations (norman kliman) 4709
Boars head (pimientito)4922
Taxes, corruption (richard jernigan) 5568
Edwina Currie vs Esperanza Fernandez (pimientito) 5757 (unbelievable!)
American freedom (dformell) 6307
How do you cook blood sausage? (kovachian)7684
This photo has been haunting me all week (escribano) 7828
Black hole eats sun (Arash)7850
What is duende? (Andresito) 9046
Finally...playstation 4 is coming 2012 (Arash) 9444

But number one place goes to the deleted thread by a deleted member
talking about a certain person who cant be named about a certain product that cant be mentioned. (13165)

From this we can conclude that our members are interested in Food, especially different ways of cooking pigs, politics and a subject so off topic we cant even have it in the off topic section.

LUTHERIE
I used to think that the flamencos were the noisy argumentative ones and the luthiers were the quiet even headed types....not so!! They seem to get into very active discussions indeed. Many threads with over 5000 hits.

1943 Santos Hernandez copy COMPLETED (TANunez) 7594
Building guitar 100 (Anders Eliasson) 8537
Economical crisis in Spanish luthiers (gounaro) 8885
About rosettes (Janne H) 8936
Blackshear/Reyes style (Tom Blackshear) 9126
Buying a guitar in Spain (doctorx2k2) 9262
The challenge issued by my school teacher (cRobson12) 10873
Yamaha CG171SF discontinued? (holyevil) 10884
Rosette designer (nhills) 11438
The Guitars of Notable Classical Guitarists (flamenco_9) 13402
New vs old (elgreco) 15486
The building of a Swedish flamenco guitar (per Hallgren) 15813

But I think the winner for number of hits is
soundportparty in my patio (anders Eliasson) 24220

As a non luthier I gotta ask....What is it with you guys and rosettes??

GENERAL
Ok... now the general section has seen some real drama over the years. Life, death, triumph, failure, incredible kindness, incredible conceitedness....its been a roller coaster of both flamenco and life...BUT, what are the most talked about subjects?

Would you like to have Jason McGuire back on foroflamenco? (rombsix) 8590
Deleted (guest) 9151
Juan Martin vs PdL (Ricardo) 9644
Ordering a Francisco Navarro Guitar - is this a good deal? (apak) 10389
Intermediate Challenge!!! (at_leo_87) 10403
Picado attack, do you really need to choose only ONE? (carloJuan) 10485
Doctor Compas Public Beta Version (jason McGuire) 10943
Flamenco-lessons.com turns 2 - A new challenge... (jason McGuire) 11216
How much do you really enjoy cante flamenco? (apak) 11527
Anyone want technique exercises? I have 304943934 (guitarristamadrid) 11832
Diego del Morao's album approaches!!! (conrad) 13856
Music theory is way too complicated (rogeliocan) 13933
Setting tempo in sibelius? (at leo 87) 13994......why does this have so many hits??
Paco De Lucia using Lester Devoe (buleria74) 14367
Flamenco chord-variation chart (Ramón) 17334
Conde questions (pimientito) 22348
All flamenco chords in Tab (Ricardo) 23967

Yet despite Ricardos chord chart being a sticky at the top of the forum our winner is
"Andalusian" Guitars (cRobson12) 24842

From this we can conclude that condes and andalusian guitars remain the most contraversial....that any thread with PDL is a hit.....that our most read threads are the ones by members who are deleted from the forum ...and that while musical theory is way too hard, we simply cant get enough exercises!!!

Happy new year everyone. P

RE: Foroflamenco (in reply to Pimientito

Haha great post Pimientito. I clearly need to up my "epic-thread-starting" game.
Sometimes totally off-topic heated discussions can happen in a seemingly innocuous thread, I'm guessing that's what happened in Anthony's sibelius thread. EDIT, nope, guess not. Must have just been googled by a lot of people outside of the Foro.

It also reminds me of what a relatively small tight-knit community we have here, which is a good thing I think.

I go to a major forum related to another passion of mine and it's not uncommon to see threads with 1,000,000 + hits. But there is so much garbage floating around on that forum due to the number of users that it makes it almost unreadable some times
that only rarely happens here.

Happy new year Foro!

Well in that case, this video should go down a real treat!

Are you able to find the one that correlates dicklength with the make of diff cars?

btw I presented the GUI-factor in the offtopic thread which is kind of a bulllshit-index for threads,... but deleted it because didn´t want to make ppl unhappy.

By the analysis of this graph, exactly when it turns midnight a gitano immediately starts jabbering only half the sh*t he was saying at 23:59.

Another interesting fact is that all gitanos never stop talking sh*t, even when they are sleeping.

Also very important to mention is that, by an analysis of some threads in this foro, we can state with certainty that Foro Flamenco has a high percentage of gitano members.
Including myself...

RE: Foroflamenco (in reply to Pimientito

pppssshahahahaa :)))

ok.. lets face it. Im here only for entertainment purposes..for myself. Why do I only help out with my incredible wisdom and experience about guitar playing in a serious manner in very rare cases?

Answer: Nobody cares because some ppl here established themselves as gurus who appear to be most reliable..(some really know the stuff and I respect that..some are falsely classified as knowing something..but they dont ..really...). However whenever such a person speaks up, the eyes of everybody are not anymore susceptible for taking up useful information from other ppl who actually also know their **** and in many cases even better. Which makes it worthless to put some effort in typing in any tips.

As result..you only get jokes from me. So..its basically..your choice. :P

Ok.. that slide-in of spontaneous seriousness should be enough for 2013.
