lol i know hes an amazing player and if genuine not just jumping on the MJ train its a nice gesture...but the 2 samples i heard sound like elevator music...could be anyone doing that ..dosent sound like JERONIMO...and they cant even come close to the MJ energy...sounds weaker with Nylon string guitar, sounds like washed down karaoke music...IMO

it would have been something if he had found a way to honor him with an acctual flamenco album with finding a way to introduce familiar MJ tunes ( eg Billie Jean could be turned into a bulerias) without losing the flamenco...that would have actually been something

no offence intended i like both...

Jeronimo as a FLAMENCO player and MJ as a great entertainer with some of the best beats and energy in POp

ohh well there's a sample of Billie jean on the page...i listened to it...if it was a buleria i missed it...it had nothing like a bulerias...didnt have the energy of a bulerias and didnt have the energy of MJ ...somewhere in between

Doesn't sound like it... but it would have been a great buleria! Well, as far as covering MJ por flamenco goes i guess... there's only so much range there! lol

maybe ...in that case wait longer or dont do it

but still i think if anything could covey MJ energy would be flamenco...i always thought the way MJ paid attention to world cultures and picked up dance moves and sounds i was convinced one day he is going to find his way to flamenco too...maybe he already did i dont know...i could imagine him loving the dancing, its very organic ...movements coming from natural every day gestures and body language...nothing more natural...or would have at the very least appreciate the energy

any day i was expecting to see a video clip of him imitating some flamenco moves

I agree Florian...the idea has a lot of potential but those 2 samples make it seem like a pretty lackluster and uninspired effort...perhaps more something for Armik's Bolero Records

Tthat is just awful man. you need to need money if you are going to do something like this. But you gotta survive and it might just get to play on the radio.

That's exactly what i thought when i saw the album... but it wouldn't be fair either to judge the album by the two short sound clips... they really sound like elevator music but maybe there's some good stuff on that album. Jeronimo is not only a great flamenco player but he also brings a lot of gypsy swing ideas to his music (you can hear that he has listened to Django and others carefully)... but in the end, I agree with you... an MJ cover album sounds like making money to me.

Which is a shame... Jeronimo could make a lot of money by just making an Encuentro book, or some other form of video tutorial... i would definitely buy it, and i know that i'm not the only person who would!

Yeah, if i could interject more gypsy swing and compound time signatures
into something, it would definatly be Billie Jean.

Maybe while im at it, i could re-record Songs in the Key of Life by Stevie Wonder.

I mean, even though its absolutley perfect the way it is, it would be fun
to totally disrespect and mangle it to all hell to make some money, cause i cant write an interesting buleria.

Jeronimo Maya has good flamenco material, which he plays live but doesn't record and instead releases elevator music?

To my knowledge he has released one flamenco record which is not available, does anyone know otherwise?

I guess the problem is that the flamenco market is small, noone can live from record sales.
It seems he only plays solo? Would be great to see him accompany.
