it depends. depends on your preferences, style, technique, guitar, strings, etc, etc. i like to keep my nails somewhat shorter because they're stronger this way. but i've seen some players with intense cocaine dealer style pinky nails and dagger like thumb nails. as opposed to a rounded shape, try a ramped shape. you should be able to see some examples if you search this foro or google it. as for nail care, try not to dry out your nails. i rub lotion into my nails after every time i wash my hands and try to avoid doing the dishes (great excuse, it really works.)
