To bad I can't use it anymore because this firewire protocol is not supported by the iMac.
All processing is done within the card itself, high headroom etc.

Drivers from the rme site let you control the mixer (also via usb/midi).

PCI card is for the PC, because it won't work with the normal firewire connection.

Uh oh. I plan to switch to Imac too and I use the MOTU Ultralite. I thought there was some kind of firewire adapter plug?(800 to 400)

I don't know about the Motu (exept that it is good), but for this RME multiface, you needed a special PCI card, and if connected to a laptop, a special pcmcia cardbus.
I haven't checked the site for newer material, but its topclass material.

You should check it out for the Motu Gummy, so you're not supprised afterwards.

OH ok. Mine uses a standard Firewire 400 plug. I have a card(the newer replacement for pmcia... I forget the designation now) for my laptop. I will look into it further, thanks for bringing it up. I hear a new imac is in the works, who knows what it will have for ports. I don't have enough money right now to get the new computer anyway.
