poor Oregonian slob seeks instructor

Ive been playing my guitar like mad for six months and want to learn flamenco...er... a lot. ive scrounged around on Sals Soapbox site and have learned a bit, However, I'm afraid to practice most of the complex techniques because i think i might interpret something wrong/take it too fast and screw myself over.
my problem is this: I dont know where to find a teacher. I noticed a few Oregonians lurking about and thought they might be able to help me out. I would be extremely grateful for the name of anybody in within 35 miles of portland.

IF noone here puts they hand up, the next best thing to do is look into your Phone book for the nearest Flamenco Dance school.

Goodluck.

Just incase there was a missunderstanding, " look for flamenco dance schools" because you will always find guitarists there, i realised that my first response could be missinterpreted.

Sorry for the delay in my response. I've been busy with a house remodel project that got out of hand, as usual, and haven't had time to lurk for a while.

I live in Portland and take flamenco lessons from Steve Edwards at the Portland Music Company store on NE Broadway (the acoustic store) every Saturday. He also teaches in Vancouver during the week. Good guy and an excellent teacher. He can play all things guitar, but flamenco is his first love, which is how it should be. He charges $22 per half hour for individual lessons and something like half that for group lessons, which although far more affordable would not be nearly as effective, IMHO. I go for an hour because I feel like we're just getting into it 30 minutes into the lesson, but most of his students go for a half hour.

Here's a link to the PMC teacher website with more information about Steve, including his phone number:

Downing,

I sent this fellow a personal email advising him to contact you about Portland Music Co, but I never heard back from him. That was a week or so ago.

Patrick,

It's possible that he emailed me and I didn't realize it was a legitimate email. I get so much junk email these days, even taking into account the emails snagged by my screener, that unless I know the author or unless the subject line contains something I'm interested in, e.g., "flamenco," I usually wholesale delete them along with all the offers to refinance, get cheap pharmaceuticals, enhance certain body parts, etc.
