flamenco guitar color

hi my friend
one of my friend is a luthier and i want to have some information about guitar finishing color.
i want to know about flamenco guitar color. in the laquer guitar , which is beter for top code?, poly orthan or nitrocellulose or ....
which factory,s sell this color,s?

Mine got no colored finish. You see the natural color of the wood which has been used. I was thinking on giving it to a luthier for staining in red..but I didn´t decide yet.

Doitsujin: No...... In order to do it well have to strip off the finish. Dont put more finish on a guitar you like. Besides, whats wrong with natural. Dont you like the color of wood?

Karbor: You can buy colors in places like stewmac.com and lmii.com You ether stain the guitar before finishing it or you mix the color in the finish.
Which finish is the best. It depends on what you want, sound or a strong guitar.

Soundwise, My opinion: Shellack is the best, next comes Nitro and a good waterbase and last comes polyutherane

Don't use polyester or acrylic. They're made to remain slightly flexible for durability so they have a dampening affect on the sound. Nitrocellulose lacquer has problems too like crazing and strange reactions with some hardwoods but overall it's still the best lacquer for instruments. Never stain the bare wood. When this is done it emphasizes every blemish or curl which is fine in furniture but looks terrible on guitars.

After enough coats of clear are applied and sanded almost completely off to get the grain filled one carefully sprays a coat of color followed by 3 or more coats of clear. We use alcohol based dye for coloring. It's cheap, transparent, comes in a myriad of colors for blending the tone you want and mixes readily with lacquer. You'll need to mask the rosette and bone inlays unless you want the guitar to look like a it's made in a factory.

My guitar is almost white.. :.) It´s looking nice and I can live with that. But I like red, too. Good to know that with stripping of the actual finish at first. Thats the expensive part I guess...
