Yes, very pleasing, and, as you say, romantic and traditional.

PS Why the 'he's no PdL'? He's a fine guitarist in his own right.

Paco was my favorite guitarist for many years. It is so obvious Manolo does not have the fame and incredible technique of Paco. I must say I like Manolo's sensitive romantic music better than Paco's. This is strickly my personal opinion. I love his romanitic falsetas. Now I am over 65 years old. I take things easy these days. Manolo is relaxing and easy to listen to in my opinion. You are right. Manolo is a fine guitarist in his own right. I have learned many beautiful falsetas from him. I spend hours going over then and played some yesterday in my show. In fact, Manolo is my favorite living guitarist.

I never had a favourite guitarist in ALL aspects.
For instance i prefer the accompaning groove of Diego del Morao over Paco now and i prefer Pacos compositions over Moraito and i prefer Moraitos Rasgueos over someone else ........and so on.......

Every good guitarist has something distinctive which shines out.....

btw, i also liked this Alegrias. Very emotional playing.

Nice video! Here's another one with some good singing:

Hate to be the one to tell you, Antonio, but Manolo passed away in 2006.

His playing always has ideas that catch my ear!

Norman, I was not aware that "El Rubio" passed away. This is sad news.

Here is my favorite video of him and singer Maria Vargas. This is some nice singing of Alegrias plus a traditional short dance of Alegrias, performed by a lovely lady who is not trying to impress with tons of fast footwork. She just dances the way they used to dance in the good old days. Elegant and with class. Great singing.

Look at the portion of the video when the clock timer indicates 3:26. Some real duende happens here. Manolo really inspires Chato, who is sitting to his left. Watch how Chato reacts to Manolo's playing and his gestures that follow. Also, this has a very exciting ending where Manolo really lays it on.

There is some nice singing of Alegrias

What?
This performanance is ALL about the song. I think I would be more inclined to say "there is some nice accompaniment"! I did enjoy the video though. Thanks for uploading.
