Did I ruin my Guitar?
Hey people, The other day, I was playing my guitar (with really worn out strings), and I "unleashed a fierce picado" on the D string making it break. Since I have some exams coming up, I was too lazy to go and replace the whole set of strings (and I didn't even replace the D string itself). I left my guitar without a D string for about three days (in its case), and just yesterday, I replaced the broken D string with an older (yet acceptable) D string. I was amazed that when I played the D string, it sounded very buzzy and crappy. It was like something had gone wrong with the guitar during those three days (that I left it without a D string). I don't think the problem is in the "semi-old" D string that I put in since it sounded fine when I was using it earlier (I mean, the sound of this D string on my guitar now is just terrible - it buzzes even when I play it open, without any notes fretted). I have been told that it is not "healthy" to remove all the strings and leave the guitar naked after it has been strung for a while (for example to replace the whole set of strings, they should be removed and replaced one by one). So I was thinking, might something have gone wrong with the guitar's neck? Might it have gotten a little bit deformed due to the change in tension (because of the missing D string for three days)? I sure hope not! Please let me know what you think. Ramzi
