Manolo Franco in town

I´m very glad, Manolo Franco is in Fulda. Workshop begins in about half an hour. He´s on stage tonight

It was a great weekend! Manolo showed some basic techniques and how HE plays them, then he demonstrated some possibilities about to play 3 minutes accompanyment compás exclusively without playing boring. He also has showed some of his falsetas; he used them to demonstrate some techniques being taught earlier. Everyone could take part of his tremendous flamenco knowledge. He is a very nice and friendly person, uncomplicated in any aproach.

During the break Manolo has given me his opinion about a guitar I´ve shown him that´s for sale by a friend. So my friend never can get a better reference for sure when it comes from Manolo Franco

It was absolutely exceptional in which easyness he formed his lines and passages, providing additional info on how some special aspects can be done. At the end of the workshop he asked us if we would have any question, need a demonstration or anything else. Then he provided some useful hints on my bulerías. After that I´ve asked him to play an alegría. He promptly did. During the whole workshop everyone could see his wizzard-like handling on the guitar, totally impressive!

At 19:30 h Manolos concert has begun. He played fully solo, so no palmeros, no percussion, no grupo, nada. Just one man and one guitar. He knows how to "design" any piece in a way to let shine his technical skills a bit through the wonderful big flower walls of authentic emotional flamenco music. The last piece in the program was a bulerías that topped all the bombastical toques. He´s an absolutely guitar monster!

The guitar he´s played is a negra by Jesús de Jimenez, a young maker from Sevilla. I´ve sat in the last seat line directly at the wall on the opposite of the stage. Any arrived clearly and clean with powerful crispy basses and cutting singing trebles, maybe a bit stronger than Granaina school.

He´s played 1 extra, but that was ok. No piece was shorter than 7 or 8 minutes. The whole concert was an emotional powerplay for anyone.

The workshop has brought another pleasant surprise. I´ll post it later.
