Making percussion loops with GarageBand

Does anyone use GarageBand for making percussion or compas loops? I've been messing around with the drum kit on the iPad and I'm not too impressed with my results. I was trying to make a bulerias in 6 loop from paquito Gonzales. Sounds like a metronome even when I try to add swing.

GB is a DAW like anyother. What you might want to do is learn how to use a sampler within GB (or another DAW). This way you can use piano roll to input the attributes of the samples, change velocity, humanize timings, etc.

Thanks I'll research sampling. I don't have Much experience with DAW obviously. I do have Adobe audition, but its yet another complex software product to learn.

There are lots of plugin based (vst, au, etc) sample libraries. Just find one with the sounds you need.

Take a look at Kontakt ones to get a grip of the thing.
