Right hand Wrist issues 

Hey guys, for almost two months now I have been having this weird issue with my wrist. I can do everything with it normally, move it with out hurting, touch it, but when I bend it forwards/backwards at almost a 90 degree angle then put pressure on it it hurts.. I can even bend it between 0 and 80 degrees and put pressure on it and it doesn't hurt at all.

I went to the doctors, and I was put on tendinitis medication, didn't work. I got x-rays, nothing is fractured or broken, and I don't have carpal tunnel.

What do you guys think it is? It doesn't bother me at all unless I put it on the near 90 degree and then put pressure on it. I can bend fowards and backwards at anywhere between a 0 and 80 degree with pressure and it feels completely normal.

The only thing I have left to do is to get physical therapy but I don't have the time for that. Did any of you guys have something similar to this? How should I go about treating it if medications didn't work and x-rays are normal?

maybe it is because of over practising

relax it .. massage it .. put it in hot water for a while .. use Vaseline
and over all stop practising guitar for a while till the torn muscles or whatever wrong in your hand recover.

Your technique must be relaxed , practice relaxed movements when you practice technique , you may need to completely change your technique . Don't be afraid of a little pain . I don't believe strength has that much to do with it . Relax easier said than done . Also slouching on the couch is bad , when practicing sit in your proper position .

I used to have light feelings in tendons on the left hand's wrist, usually it got more sensitive when practicing same thing longer time on the same guitar. First I didn't know what it was, but then I heard quite bad stories about how it can get much worse and hard to treat or even untreatable consequences can result out of it over some shorter time. Sometimes, neck of the guitar can be just too thick for the hand or too narrow or slim, so adjusting to it hand is under permanent tension.
But in your case it's right hand, try maybe changing position of the wrist and the angle so it will become natural and won't develop any tension during playing. I don't know how you hold your right hand during playing so I have no certainty if this applies to you, but in many cases even some better players, they hold the wrist in pretty unnatural angle. (I was doing the same untill I found out that I didn't like the tone this way (nails in this angle produce unvanted colour of sound and is also harder to control) and turning it to more relaxed position I could improve comfortabity and tone at the same time.)
Try finding out by observation, if your hand position changes a lot when switching from picado to arpegio position. It should not. And it will also help making transitions more natural and easier.
I don't think this way you will feel any tension in that area anymore. But first I suggest giving it a break for tendons to recover. Eat lot of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. When practicing, do not go to useless extremes. Do more breaks also.

I highly recommend alternative medicine and firmly believe, lot of so called untreatable issues and diseases can be treated using alternative means. And I wouldn't trust a doctor, personally. Acupuncture has very good results with similar injuries, but I would go only if the problem was persistent and would not disapear by treatment.

here is something that probably might help with this problem:

"This painful condition is most often diagnosed by evaluating major factors in the patient's history that may indicate muscular overuse. This ailment will often develop when a person suddenly increases his or her level of activity without properly getting adequate training or body conditioning. This occurs frequently in occupational and recreational settings. Aside from evaluating factors in the patient's history that are likely to lead to this condition, a doctor may utilize many physical examination procedures.

Most tendons are located near the surface of the skin and therefore can be easily touched, felt or pressed in order to make a diagnosis, mostly manual therapy practitioners who have exceptionally-developed palpation skills. Pressure placed directly on these tendons is likely to cause discomfort. Lastly, the manual therapy practitioner could also ask the patient to contract the muscle attached to the tendon, usually against resistance, to verify if this maneuver causes pain.

Potent Herbal Mixtures For Alleviating Tendinitis

There are a number of herbal mixtures and topical preparations that are commonly utilized to treat tendinitis. These herbs are known to possess anti-inflammatory properties and will help heal the torn tendon fibers. If the condition is chronic one, burning a small amount of mugwort near the skin may hasten the healing process.

Some oral herbal ingredients or supplements may also be helpful in creating an optimal healing environment for the tendon and address any related concerns. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and experts may also perform a unique form of acupressure massage called tui-na. Below are some potent herbal ingredients which are helpful in alleviating this painful condition.

- Fenugreek.

The grounded seeds of the fenugreek and milk are a good combination, as the inflammation in the affected area would be reduced and relieved through the anti-inflammatory properties of the fenugreek herb.

- Curcumin

The turmeric herb, curcumin, also is noted to possess potent pain-killing and anti-inflammatory properties, and its extract can also be utilized as a herbal topical ointment.

- Individuals who suffer from this painful condition should also regularly consume fresh vegetables and fruits, flax seed meal, flax seed oil, deep water fish, fresh water and organically raised food.

Usually, this painful swelling of the tendons would naturally heal if the activity that provokes it is reduced or stopped. There are many types of treatments that can help speed up the healing process. Some tendonitis concerns may last for longer periods, because they are not afforded the proper treatment periods before a person goes back to a more vigorous activity level.

If this condition persists and is generally unresponsive to non-surgical treatment methods, the afflicted part of the tendon may need to be removed through surgery, and a type of surgery is also performed to remove the buildup of calcium levels that come with persistent tendonitis."
