The flamenco slut

I am a flamenco slut.
I'm like a single guy in a bar that can't make up his mind, walking from one pretty girl to the next... and then going back again.
Oh Malaguena! that sounds nice!.... Oh, Granaina; I like that.... ahhhh that Bulerias Morao plays sounds great; I can't play it but I will try anyways.... Silencio!? what's that, it's beautiful.... Hey what's this on youtube, I have no clue but it sounds nice, let's try that....That little falseta in Vicente's solea sounds so beautiful.... dream on....
I'm bound to get some kind of flamenco disease eventually!
And maybe someday I can actually play something!!

When I started playing I tried to focus on Soleares and Tarantas.

But I think it is best to work on numerous palos at once. They all have ideas and methods and patterns that help with others, so devote attention to a bunch at the same time.

Don't feel the need to get attached to one. You can play the field as it were.

Focus you can only do one thing at a time . Yes you can do many things in a day , best results will happen when you focus on what you are doing now ,,,, now ,,,, now

Curiosity is normal when it comes to everything beautiful palo that make us dream of playing it nicely. Los malados de flamenco! I like that it has no explanation why we keep on documenting about everything that makes part of flamenco.. Palmas, Compas, Counting the Compas, accompanying a dancer, listening to the singers, or even studying Spanish and Visiting Spain on a daily basis!

WE LOVE FLAMENCO!! and this makes us lusting for more knowledge everyday

Please if you ever succeeded in finding a cure, don't forget post the name of the medicine here

It's funny, after posting this I got to think that learning flamenco, because it is not simple and finding a path is not obvious, is a lot like life and dating.
There is the whole initial learning, enfancy.
Then you learn bits and pieces of palos and technique, grade school.
Then you try to play different falsetas, at time focusing, that's the puppy love and dating.
Trying to play palos for which you don't yet possess the proper techinque (like arpeggios or tremolo) is like hitting on girls that are out of your league, depressing but you learn from it.
Then you get to a point where you actually have the baggage to learn a palos, that is more serious dating.
Eventually you know yourself and enough of flamenco to find your path, I suppose that would be marriage and true focus.

All this to say that my desire to try different things and difficulty in focussing is probably normal being at my puppy love stage.

The good thing is that you don't get sued in the end if you decide to move to jazz.

I think i have never heard the words "arpeggio" and "girls" in one sentence.
I think bottom line is, foro can be a funny place.

What happened with me was I'd hear the odd couple of falsetas from something and really want to learn them. The rest of the piece I was maybe just so-so about.
So I would have all these falsetas from various palos and not a single complete piece to play.

Anyway, that's the way I like it now.

I just like to play around with stuff out of interest when I'm in the mood and not be under any pressure to do something or practise scales etc.

After all, it is just a hobby. I've already got a job and the guitar is meant to be a recreational thing.

My sympathies, however, to the folk who are on a career path with the instrument as there are so many good things that you hear and some of them are way above your current ability, but you just HAVE to learn them. So you end up getting involved in doing long technical exercises too.

Man it goes on and on....and on.....forever!

Truely gruelling. Pain and pleasure at the same time.

cheers,

Ron

Hmmm...

What technique would Flamenco Spanking be then?

Maybe that Rumba "slapping golpe" technique?

This Flamenco Fetishism might be interesting to explore from a psychiatrists point of view?

cheers,

Ron
