I just received a new blanca from Aaron Green. Quite a few people were asking how it turned out and my answer is EXCELLENT: very loud, very light, very easy to play, muy flamenco tone, superb craftsmanship - every little detail is just super!

She's a beauty, thanks for sharing the pics. Great to hear that the sound has met your expectation. I have heard that it takes a while for the guitar to really 'open up', so if it sounds good now, it's probably going to sound even better with time.
I see you went with tuners, nice ones at that. Not a peg fan?
One more question, to you or anyone who has ordered from Aaron. Does he include a guitar case? Just curious how he ships his guitars.

It's my understanding Aaron builds more in line to Barbero. He had access to the famous Sabicas Barbero, which I am sure was a great influence on him.
I also own a Green blanca. Aaron's workmanship is superlative. My blanca is set up low and perfect. I have owned two DeVoe's and can say Aaron's setup and playability is even better if that's possible.
I have a Brazilian negra due soon from Aaron. Just last night I had an email conversation with a friend of mine that owns a world-class collection of flamenco's. He said his Green Brazilian negra is exceptional. He buys and sells guitars all the time, but I don't think he will part with this one.

It is hard to say, I think she sounds really nice already. Lyrical trebles without excessive sustain, "growly" midrange - 100% match to my expectations. One more thing about trebles - on this guitar they are very "jumpy" (dunno how to say it in English), very "staccato-like" so to say. Of course she still sounds new, it will probably take year for sound to "mature".

IMHO pegs is more collector choice, I am not a collector. Personally I don't even care much about how headstock and tuners look, sound and functionality is no 1 priority for me but I guess a guitar of such level supposed to have expensive tuners, nice headstock and every detail done with an extra attention - and it does.

Congratulations. it looks stunning aand we have all heard such good things about his guitars. Your choice of strings is interesting though. Are they red La Bella trebles (Ron's favorite - made from dead cats no less!). The G string is different. Is that a common combination you use on your guitars? Aaron usually ships his guitars with La Bella strings, doesn't he?

Looking good! Do you mind me asking how long the wait time was for you?
I don't want to speak for Ilia, but I think Aaron's wait list is still 1.5 yrs. plus 4-6 more months to complete the build. But, Patrick and Ilia, correct me if I'm wrong.

pacowannab,
It is not really my choice of strings for this guitar (I think I would go for 820 black trebles / Luthier 20 or 30 basses combination) - I just wanted to see right away how 820 series trebles will sound on this guitar - I had 2 rather old 1st and 2nd red trebles so I put them. Initially it had La Bella 2001 med tension.

Its been exactly 2 years since I put my name on Aaron's waiting list.

Patrick,
Many thanks to you, I think it was your advice to go for Green blanca

Hi Everyone,
Thanks Ilia for posting this thread, it's always a treat . I'm glad you are happy with your new guitar. I'm looking forward to hearing how she develops.
Patrick, your negra is being french polished as we speak. I'll be stringing her up soon.
In regards to my waiting list it's about a year right now. It always depends on where I am in a batch when someone places an order. As I am at the end of a batch and starting my new one soon, the wait is a little less. Ilia's guitar, and everyone else's in this batch took much longer than they should as I have relocated from my previous shop into my new home and lost about 4 months in the process gutting the basement and doing construction work. Glad it's over and I am happy to be back in the swing of things. My shop will actually be moved again hopefully soon as I have a beautiful brand new horse barn that was a big selling point for us when we bought the house. However the job is rather large and costly so for now I'm in the basement.

Ilia, are you French-speaking? Let us hear your new guitar. To give a better idea of how it's sounding you can compare it to your conde in the same recording.

No, I am more Russian-speaking :) I'll do a couple of soundclips next week.

Aaah, so you finally bought that house. Congratulations.
When I mooved 1 1/2 year ago, I also had the idea of having the workshop in a place that was a big selling point. But I wont... I havent got the energy to fix it, so I stay where I am for now. or maybe I just work VERY slowly and maybe change one day.
