Some people have more money than brains. I liked the comments below the guitar about "experimenting" with a "gut" string guitar.

I've got this guitar, but I certainly didn't pay that much. ouch!!

and so what if eric clapton used it. If Paco had used this in a rehearsal how much would it fetch at the same auction house? less?

I remember reading (on this foro?) about a class Tomatito gave in Europe and he changed strings at the end of class, a big row then erupted amongst the students for his old strings with everyone finally agreeing to cutting the strings up into small pieces so everyone could have a piece!!

Any of these on ebay...?

Don't waste your time on these cheap guitars. In the same auction a Juan Alvarez (Madrid) guitar went for $253900.

I have one of these and anyone can have it half price!

Paco's Faustino should be $1 million minimum if this is the case...

I thought you had added an extra 0 by accident. Someone really paid a quarter million dollars for that?? The estimate was only 10-15,000
BTW - does Clapton himself get any of that ?

This was part of a large collection of guitars that Clapton put up for sale with all money going to the Crossroads Centre for drug addicts (not guitar addicts!). Why did people pay such high prices? I guess it was partly because some guitars had been used on famous tracks but also because people knew the money was going to a good cause. My Alvarez comes from the period when he was making guitars for Arcangel Fernandez.
