Piñonate tuning

Hi everyone,

What's the tuning Paco used for Piñonate? It's that killer bulería on Sólo quiero caminar. I've heard a few different explanations, and I think it's played at the fourth fret, but in some unusual tuning.

I checked the archives and was surprised to find no mention of piñonate, pinyonate, pinionate or even pin~onate. Hmph.

Norman,
if you go here on Miguel Leiva's 4Shared page there is a file with all his transcriptions and there should be a full transcription of Pinonate there...
the tuning is EADGBbD

Norman, you did not try "pinonate" I guess.

I always thought the tuning was EADGAD, but I could be wrong I guess. Hopefully Grisha will chime in since he plays it. I think there is the same tuning for Cañada from Siroco, except the 6th is also tuned down to A, an octave lower.

i play with E A D G Bb D tuning and it works for me. I think that Grisha plays with B instead of Bb

Cool, but I think he is wrong...check out Grisha's video.
Just noticed that Tomatito's tuning for Colombianas is the SAME as Taranta. Faucher did not seem to notice it is the same, but Taranta is a whole step higher pitch, but relatively speaking, the tuning is the same. Also he made a typo there with Tangos, Tomatito's second string is Bb not Eb. Sorry for being picky, still for me Faucher's stuff is the best out there.

Thanks to xirdneH_imiJ, Ricardo, Deyo and Mark Indigo for the input (and anyone else that contributes).

I had a look at the Miguel Leiva site but Piñonate isn't included in the transcriptions that I saw. I checked Grisha's site (http://www.grishagoryachev.com/) for the video that Ricardo mentioned, but the link doesn't seem to be working. Might be a problem with my Internet connection. In any case, the YouTube video of Grisha playing Piñonate is:

Sometimes things can be worked out in a tuning that's slightly different from the original, but what Grisha does in this video looks and sounds very accurate to me.
