Classic Orchestra underestimates fla...
I just read this article about a flamenco and classical performance that went badly wrong. Apparantly coming to Granada sometime soon......
quote:
The international premiere of a ''symphonic flamenco'' concert on the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, billed as the feature attraction of the ninth Ibero-American Theatre Festival in the Colombian capital, ended up a flop due to technical problems and discrepancies between the Spanish and Colombian composers and musicians.
The show stars El Cigala and the Bogota Philarmonic Orchestra who apparantly did not even look at the score never mind rehearse, as if somehow they could wing it on the night. Talk about underestimating the complexities of flamenco. Hey anyone can do it !!!!! Not !!!
RE: Classic Orchestra underestimates... (in reply to Kate)
Hi Kate, Absolutely hilarious!! I liked this bit:- "One of the sources of the tension in the run-up to the performances was the musical score sent from Spain, which according to the Philharmonic musicians ''only contained the notes,'' without the rest of the information necessary for a ''professional'' rendering."
ie..they forgot to mention the compás....LOL!
also:- "... where they will perform before ''an audience of Jews and Palestinians,''....."
Rather them than me.....and I thought that gig in Belfast, with the folk shouting for rebel songs in support of the Birmingham Six was heavy......sheesh!
