RE: Proposition concerning lurkers (in reply to el ted)
I'm not a lurker, but I have no problem with lurkers, newbies or anyone else. The foro is different things to different people, and it serves all those functions well, IMO. It's nice to listen to uploads, and view the instructional material. Read about new cd's , check out you tube stuff I'd never have seen. And to read the perspectives of other flamenco aficianados.
Sometimes I come up with an idea for an upload but never seem to get around to doing anything about it. I don't feel guilty I mean, doing all that video recording and editing takes time, and that is in short supply in my case. I salute the guys who have taken the time to do so, no matter if it's to promote themselves, out of a genuine desire to help others, or both.
I have to admit, there was not much help available when I started, and none of it was free. Maybe that's why I don't feel guilty for not contributing more substance. I'm pre napster, when people paid for music, and music instruction had more value. My first flamenco teacher told me of the incredible difficulty and sacrifice his entire family went through in Spain in order for him to study with a flamenco teacher. He told me of guitarists who would hold back their best falsetas, and of guitarists who would teach bulerias falsetas with thirteen beats. All that mystery and difficulty was part of the attraction. "Learn the SECRETS of flamenco guitar!!!" They really were secrets at one time. Now it's all free on the net! Well, not really ALL.
I try to offer my opinion when I think it might be interesting or informative. So, if my or others main desire here is purely entertainment, fellowship, or free lessons, that's all ok IMO. Serious students and players will seek out the info, instruction, and experience they need, and will eventually have to do so beyond an internet forum.

Hi Ailsa,
Thanks I can look at it when I get home from work. And sorry I missed it. I do try to look at everything people have contributed. I mean if they've gone to the trouble of doing it, least I can do is look!
RE: Proposition concerning lurkers (in reply to Mark2)
Romerito, sorry. I realise you went through a lot of trouble making your practise treads. I know from experience that tab uploads never seem to inspire people to comment, let alone thank you for it.

I am new to Flamenco (less than a year) and find this a very important source for learning. I AM THE VILLAGE IDIOT! It is so important to me, and my new addiction that I have made it my home page. I want to thank everyone for existing and sharing. If I can't find by search an answer, I will ask but I am still exploring. I wish I had something of value to share (perhaps I do but I have not found it yet). I am only now begining to understand the mysteries such as "compas" (we have met the enemy and it is us). Thanx to everyone here for "being".

Well I think people from the Netherlands like to confuse us. I mean there's 'the Netherlands', of which Holland is a region in the north west. And then the people and stuff from there are Dutch. Three different names none of which sound similar. I mean how many names do you need? It's just greedy isn't it?
RE: Proposition concerning lurkers (in reply to Mark2)
Dutch, Hemeola, it's DUTCH. You slimy, patriotic US bastard. Don't you have any foreign history lessons, for christsake.
You probably one of those people who thinks Amsterdam is the capital of Denmark and comes here after your retirement to "do" Europe in two weeks and think you can talk to everyone with just doing some German lessons.

For your own information Ailsa. Netherlands, Holland, and Dutch are English words, made up by english people. We only say Nederland and Nederlanders. And Holland is a province. We can't help it that you confuse it with the country's name.

i find it kind of absurd to see otherwise intelligent people fighting on the internet. but what do i know, je ne suis qu'un simple guitariste paresseux.
