I dont think the man ever stops composing. He has 30 albums out. I cannot imagine him being tired of flamenco.
I was reading he is playing on his birthday in Hamburg, sometime in November. Since years they say its his last tour. I dont think he will ever stop touring

Yes but Paco seems to have been on tour constantly since I saw him in London in November 2005 - I was quite surprised that he's playing here again so soon. That is why I feel quite dubious about the concert I'm going to in November - I couldnt NOT see Paco in the city I live in, but part of me thinks, how much of his heart in it and how much is going through the motions so to speak. Obviously all artists need to tour for financial reasons, but i just find it hard to believe that Paco can enjoy the live concerts after being on tour for that long. So that makes it harder for me as a concert goer to enjoy..

if all your life was about playing, composing, touring, it's very difficult to stop, you can take shorter breaks, but it's something you can't live without...
he did say though in an interview, that it's beginning to become more and more difficult to come up with the kinds of new ideas that sort of show the road for other guitarists (can't quote that correctly) - since that what's expected of him now and he doesn't feel like repeating himself, so that's why so much time passes in between albums lately...
i'm pretty sure though that he will come up with new stuff, hopefully in the next 2-3 years and not later, also i hope that his health will let him compose and tour much much more, as long as he wants to...
does anyone know whether his kids play?

yes he does, at least four of them, from different marriages, but i'm too lazy now to read up on that :)

Well, from his marriage with Casilda (tanguillos), he had Curro (Mi Nino Curro, rondena), Lucia (named after his Mum I suppose), and Casilda. He also had recently, Antonia (solea por bulerias). And I'm pretty sure he has at least another son, Jose de Lucia, who is also a guitarist. He may have more. I don't know. FYI, Pepe de Lucia has a daughter, Malu, who is a pop singer and Paco has recorded with her. And don't forget that their sister had a son named Jose Maria Banderas who is amazing! I think also there is a video on youtube of another nephew of Paco's (son of whom I don't know) who is also a guitarist. That's all I know.

Paco have five children: Casilda, Lucia, Curro, Antonia and Diego! Diego is one year old and Antonia dance (she was with Paco on concerts in Japan)!

And I saw a video from New York when Paco said that he is thinking of a new album! I am sure that he will make it! Try to find the video on youtube!

I think what Paco should do, although of course this may not suit the Cante and Baile lovers or those expecting a multitude of instruments, is record an entirely solo album of original material along a thematic line. The best parts of Paco concerts are his solo slots IMO so why not take that inspiration into the studio. Flamenco guitar doesn't need a sextet or septet to make it appealing. All he needs is a Cajon perhaps por Buleria with some slightly muted palmas (quite often palmas is too loud and spoils the music). Listen to Chick on Zyryab or the incredible "Siroco" or what he was delicately doing on Luzia. Pure solo please Paco with a little percussion/rhythm !!
